Both of my ears have been crackling for months.

I got a bad cold several months ago and developed fluid in both of my ears. My ears felt clogged and they crackled. some of the clogged sensation went away, but the crackling remains. I went to the doctor and they found a little fluid, so I was given a steriod shot but didn't work. The crackling drivers me crazy. What can I do?

Thanks.

    Hi Ryan

My issues started off the same way with a massive cold have since become a little better but the cracking is still there. I had a nasal endoscopy done 2 weeks ago with biopsies as they found blockage in the nasopharynx still haven't heard back. Went through 2 rounds of antibiotics too as my cold turned into a sinus infection. I will post back once I get my results. Did they perform a nasal endoscopy to see if there's anything blocking your eustacean tubes?

Hi. They didn't peform a nasal endoscopy. That probably would have been best though. I've noticed they crackle more times then others. Such as when I'm laying down. Do yours do the same?

Last June, my left ear started crackling/popping ... only when sleeping and it hasn't stopped since. One year later. Everytime I go to sleep, my left ear starts to make noises. My doctor thinks it is my acid reflux .... Have you got that checked out? I also have humming/ringing noise and I always have the feeling to pop both of my ears. Ask your doctor to see an ent and they will help you. Unfourtantely, I haven't got much help and I am still suffering. Maybe better luck for you .......... Keep us updated. Good luck!
