Hi, i had that done to my right foot in April 2016 yes it is painful I kept mine iced/elevated and it was in a cast not a shoe. I just had a second toe shortening may 10th 2019 on my left foot. I had to go out doc appointment I just put my foot up in a chair. Hope you feel better and wishing you a speedy recovery.
