ifor the las two weeks \"i have been to hell and back\"after having diahorea for over a week this is when my trouble started, i went to the dr and he gave me antispasmodic medication they didnt do any good, so i was prscribed with more antispasm tablets my gp told me i had I.B.S' so this was another week gone by and it never seemed to occur to him that i ought to have an investigation maybe a colonoscpy or a ct scan, i had this horrible feelig in my back passage and by this time i was getting pain in my low abdoman. i realised i wasnt going to get anywhere , so in desparation i booked myself in to a private hospital to see a bowel consultant, by now i am feeling really ill and weak, but there we go again i paid alot of money to go private to get myself sorted before christmas. but this was a complete waste of time, he jus looked up in to my rectum and said that it looks like you have DIVERTICulits, then suggested that for £300 i could have a barium test done but in the meantime there was no mention of the pain i'm in, so now with only a few days to go for christmas and snowed in what can i do, the pain now going all over my body i am begining to get frightend, has anyone ever had this expiriennce?

Sounds like an infection. Have you passed any blood or pus? Is your abdomen throbbing a little? On self examination does any area of your abdomen hurt? You should see your GP as soon as possible, in the meantime if it gets worse you should take yourself to A&E smile

Sorry  I mean't have you passed any bloody or pus bowel movements from the bottom area, but no worries :D If you have diverticulitis it's fairly common for one or more of these diverticula to become infected from time to time, more often than not these infections can be cleared with a course of antibiotics but in rare cases, due to the infection, they can perforate into the abdominal cavity and that isn't good at all sad You seemed to be describing how such a rare occurrence would feel in it's early stages, so if you start feeling really really ill you must seek help asap :ok:
