Bowel movements.

I'm possibly writing the same as some other times, but...

My extended right hemicolectomy was 29 months and 1 day ago. All tests, CEA, CT scan and colonoscopy fine since then and 6 monthly CEA and specialist visits now. But I very rarely have 'normal' b m's. Usually one semi soft in the morning then another looser one late morning. I do take 2 teaspoons of a fibre supplement daily called Konsyl D. Nobody seems bothered except me, my Dr simply says, 'at least you're getting rid of it now.' Which I am, there was a complete blockage leading up to emergency surgery. So maybe it's normal for me. I eat a fair amount of sweet food including ice cream every day, but don't touch alcohol. The other query, is that a blockage and an underlying perforation of the bowel which was noticed from the initial scan, are considered risk factors when looking at 5 year survival rates. I'm hoping those two things are less relevant now after approaching the 2 1/2 year mark? I suppose all I really want is some reassurance that I'm doing ok.

We are on the same situation bro. I got my colonoscopy 9 months ago and blood test then ultrasound and ctscan last December 2015.My colonoscopy shows that I have diverticulosis and internal hemmorhiod but until now I still have occasional bleeding and irregular bm same as yours. Semisoft in early morning and a looser one late morning. I always go to my GP aND keep on telling him what I'm still experiencing but he keeps on telling me I'm totally fine.

Hi Bryan. Just reading over some older posts. Yes, we are much the same. I'm still having the same bm pattern, semi soft then looser later in the morning. And still, 'that's just the way it is' comments from my Dr. and consultant. Shorter bowel means it can't absorb the water, etc. Have you had some bowel removed? Best wishes. I'm coming up to 33 months since bowel surgery. It's a long wait until the 5 year milestone!

Sorry, I just did some searching and it looks like you didn't need bowel surgery!
