Bowel pain in pelvic area

Hi everyone, really needing some advice if possible. For over 3 years I have suffered this pain in my pelvic area (I'm a female). It comes and goes but when I am having boewl troubles this is where the pain is. Iat first I thought it was gynacolical but have had every test under the sun in that area and all clear. I've have now been waiting 8 months to see a bowel  specialist but will be new year before I get. (My GP is unfriendly, and always says it's ibs)The pain is usually worst during ovulation and can actually be crippling at time and my pelvic area swells out too, during this it is mostly mucus I pass or wee small hard stools. To be honest the way I describe the pain is like a fish being gutted. Today again I felt the pain low down, cramps pain but passed with wind (sorry for too much info).

Please can anyone give advice or have similar, I feel like it's taking over my life and cannot understand why the doctors say it is my bowel I never imagined bowel pain would be so low in the pelvic area.

WHY DON'T YOU THINK ITS IBS?

Hi Joan, just because the pain is low down, I didn't think bowel would go that low down xx

Hi, I too have been suffering these lower abdominal pains for many years, the pain I experience is always in the lower right area and is so painful I actually thought it must have been appendicitis at one time.

I was in and out of the doctors and hospital appointments, but after scans after scans nothing could be found, and it was put down to ibs.

The pain I experience felt like a red hot knife being stabbed in my side! So sore! But when I actually pressed in that area it didn't particularly hurt, just like a dull ache. So it must be spasms or something.

I still have the pains on and off now, but can have months of nothing, which lulls me into a false sense of security, thinking it's gone for good, but it always comes back with a vengeance,  and usually lasts for 2 x weeks at a time.

Drives me bonkers, and makes me feel so ill.

Sorry if this hasn't helped much, but the pains vary so much and from person to person it seems really bizarre.

Hi Pam! We sound very similar, I just feel ibs is the answer to everything with doctors! Yes the pain can be cramps, knife like. This is across my stomach but can be sometimes to the right side. Sometimes as well when I need to have a bowel movement my lower right side is very sore but the movement relieves this. To be honest if it was defiantly ibs I'd be delighted as I would know it wasn't overly seriously xxx thanks you for your kind reply

"pain" in this area can be as simple as colon "mild inflammation"...unknown cause/s...could be a small diverticula as well.

Almost any sigmoid inflammation radiates pain into the pelvic area...thus many GI's refere you to a Urologist to check for interstitial cystitis.

I would tell my daughter to take pre and pro biotics, avoid dairy, grains, and spicy , sodas, coffee, teas for a month...

In addition, Both the Hypothalamus and the Thyroid affect the digestive contractions in your bowel..since you say

The problem increases during your period…one would suspect horomonal implication…simple check,

Take Vitamin D3 with K2 for at least one week before your period (thyroid) and avoid any Sugar/starch for the same period (hypothalamus)…

Its more than likely your hormons during your period worsen an existing bowel conditon. So the D3/k2, sugar/starch might give you some less painful experience but probably not cure the underlying condition...hopefully the pre/pro biotics can...will take several weeks.

Thank you Claudio. After I had the camera test on my bowel they did say I had a few Diverticula. I have stopped tea, coffee and just drink boiling water now, I have tried drink form pro-biotic but they don't agree with me (cause the runs) so I am going yo try them in tablet form. Thank you for your informative answer

      Daphk,

with divertula's...its really important to eat very easy digestables with limited non soluable fiber (grains etc)..best is soluable...greens but strip the stems unless they are very young.

Prebiotics...there are a few but one needs to "test" each slowly...the best 3 are psyllium husk powder, jerusalem artichoke, and yakon root.

Probiotics..in capsule/caplet form..must be "interic coated"...others are plain yogurt (no additives) and or kifer.

If you think you might have a stomach condition...then take some "slippery elm" some minutes before meals..every meal....pre bed time...be sure 4 hours since last meal...a glass of water...ph 8.2..does not need boiled..but should be filtered. to relax the colon some...DGL but only prebed time....you should get relief quiickly with the suggestions.

To hopefully heal the diverticula..L-Glutamine ..to start..2gm x 2 daily.

The concept is to not irritate the inflammations...

There is science behind these...and there is an Advanced Mucosa Repair protocol...perhaps good after a few weeks of the aforementiioned...

      You'll do fine...am sure...Claudio

wow forgot to mention....no seeds..like from raspberry/strawberry/flax/sesane etc......these can lodge in diverticula and "infection developes"...use the jelly not the jam...use the fresh organic flax oil vs either the seed or pre ground form.

    Hi Daphk

I have the same problems you are experiencing. Were you able to be pain free? And if yes, what measures did you take ?
