Bowel problems getting me down

Hi all I'm seriously fed up and want an end to my problem . I 'll explain my full story although I have posted in the past .

I started with painless bright red rectal bleeding and squirts of liquid /mucus with gas last July and was diagnosed with piles after a visit to my gp . After trying all sort of suppositories and creams I was referred to a gastroenterologist who also thought it was piles but sent me for a sigmoidoscopy .

During the scope and 7 biopsies later I was told my rectum was inflamed and told I had proctitis and sent away with asacol suppositories .

At the time of the scope I wasn't having any symptoms and no piles were seen .

I used the suppositories daily but still had occasional blood and mucus without bowel movements especially if I hadn't been for a day . I received a letter 2 weeks after the scope saying my biopsies were normal and the inflammation was likely to be from the prep .

Still using the suppositories in January my symptoms cane back more regular . In April this year i had a follow up appointment with he consultant who said I hadn't got proctitis and that some people have blood with bowel movements . I was to go away and he would see me again in 6 months .

I was always convinced I had piles so I got a photo which I took to my gp who agreed an has now referred me to a colorectal specialist but my appointment is not until the 25th of August.

I am still getting the blood which I can cope with it's only a very small amount but it's the squirts of liquid/mucus that gets to me . It's embarrassing if I pass wind on the toilet . I have read this can happen with piles and I've tried so many things to stop it but nothing's working .

Any advice ??

Hi Catherine yes I am still getting them off and on . I saw a Colo rectal specialist 2 weeks ago who said I have a slight mucosal prolapse but could also see a little inflammation just inside so thinks I have proctitis too . I'm having another sigmoidoscopy on the 13th of September so hopefully will know more then x
