Bowen Therapy

I had this on Friday having waited a month for her return from holiday. I have been in increasing pain on 9 mg Pred but didn't want to increase. My Rheumatologist wants me down to 7 mg by October, or add Methotrexate to the mix. Not keen. After the treatment I was quite stiff and by yesterday morning in extreme pain! This happened last time and then came improvement. I have felt  better today so am hopeful this will continue and I can reduce to 8.5 for one day next week!

Can you wait for the next two sessions with Bowen before you try a drop?

Did you remember to up your water take drastically after the session and especially the following day.  You really need to do this - OK, OK I know it means more loo visits - but..................

Drink lots of water after the session and go for a walk in the fresh air - that's what all my practitioners have said. It has stimulated your body to release the cytokines that cause the areas of pain - and when they get into the blood circulation it feels like a flare of the PMR, The water helps to wash them out.

I've just seen lodger's post - yes, wait for the 3rd session to have worn off before the next reduction. And never mind how often you need to visit the loo!

Thanks Eileen. Yes the water is covered and I walked outside for 15 minutes or so every half hour. Eventually I had to go to bed. I think thats when the trouble starts, ready for the morning though I did sleep well. I have to wait for results before booking any more. It was the same last time though. I always feel she hasn't done very much but then change my mind when I get results. Never immediately though. I need to be more patient I think!

Whisper, I shall be interested how you get on. I had three sessions and it did not help, I must admit I did not take to the therapist which I suppose did not help. She would have two or three people in different rooms and would wander from one to the next charging us all sixty five pounds for the privilege. She tried to get me to do another three sessions, but broke her wrist so could not carry on. I must have the evil eye.

That's not ideal but the rest periods are important I believe! I paid 30 pounds and she came to me with her couch. Lovely!

That is extortionate! Most practitioners I know make it slighlty cheaper when they are doing parallel sessions and 2 at a time is really all they should be doing. The good ones only do 1 at a time. And charge somewhere in the region of £35-40. The breaks between movements are important and do allow doing 2 clients at once.

You did get your own back though it seems ;-)
