Bowen therapy

At Eileen's comments on Bowens I decided to give it a try. The first time I felt quite sick after the session, but although I felt easier initially the pain in the shoulder was back with avengence. The second time I felt really good and can get my arm up over my head just a small sensation whilst making this manoeuvre, pleased to say I am able to walk without discomfort,I will give this treatment a chance to work. I spoke to my rheumatologist who thought it was worth trying.  Along with PMR. I have myofascial pain syndrome which Eileen thought was the problem.

Stick with it,  I was in a wheelchair, used a zimmer frame and two walking sticks.   I no longer use any of them and have not done so for nearly three years.

I have never regretted it and am just in the process of visiting my therapist to help me recover after surgery which is taken longer for me to recover.

Yay!! welcome back Lodger! You were greatly missed.

       You made my day.😀😀😀

i went for Bowen 3 times.  The therapist came with good credentials and also teaches the therapy.  The first two times I left with a little more pain and the third time I could barely walk out of the place.  Eileen also mentioned myofacial pain but I don't know because I don't have any pain brought on by touch.

I recently had an MRI which showed a slight stenosis on either side of my lower spine and Pressure on a nerve.  Anyway, my GP referred me to a neuro surgeon (I will not have surgery) to see what my options are.  In the meantime I had waited so long for the MRI and now waiting over a month for neuro appt, guess what?  The awful stabbing pains in my back and thigh that I had for six plus weeks have disappeared. I'm keeping my appointment just in case it's still lurking somewhere out there.

I am not pain free-now my knee is acting up and trying to get appointment with pain management for an injection but  they don't even answer the phone.  Must be lots of people in pain.

Aside from the pain I feel pretty good.  I believe I have adjusted to prednisone.

Have just had my 3rd session of Bowens and have found it beneficial, the effect lasts for a few days, I find I can move without stiffness and ache, my left side caused me a problems and today I feel really good. I have  booked more sessions and hope the long term effect will be be permanent.  As it's just my left side that is causing myofascial pain, I am still reducing the steroids, my right side is good no problems.

      Good.

I had my first session today and feel a whole heap better.  Drinking lots of water and this time the therapy is different.  I somehow thought it would be in the same places, but as Joanna said 'horses for courses - that is why we need your medications updated and what was the cause of you needing us this time' - so I still live and learn.

I wonder if Bowen therapy would help me.

PMR for 2 years, down to 7mgms pred. My

main problem is that I feel that I am walking

on a trampoline, particularly in the morning.

I walk my dog 3times a day for at least 30 minutes.

She is just a small dog. I have had no pain since

I started pred, as I say balance is troublesome

and I do get very tired.

      Thanks for reading

Poor balance is common in PMR and some people have found that using walking poles, as used by hikers, helps a lot and is less "makes me feel old" than a walking stick or rollator. The fact they are a pair also helps greatly.

But I would also say try Bowen - if it is going tohelp you will feel a difference after 3 sessions at most. You may need more but generally if it hasn't made some difference after 3 it probably won't. I do know people though who continued because they liked how it made them feel in gneral and found that eventaully the physical problems improved slowly too.
