BPH and Blood in urine

I am a 66 year old man, physically active, fit and trim, and in good shape overall. But I was diagnosed with BPH a few months ago, after seeing some blood in my urine. I also have some kidney stones that aren't causing me any problems at the moment. The CT scan and a cystoscopy showed no masses, lesions, or cancer, and my PSA is a very low 0.02. I could see the bloody blood vessels on my prostate during the cystoscopy. I don't have any problem urinating, but the urologist said I wasn't emptying my bladder. He put me on tamsulosin, but it lowered my blood pressure (which didn't need lowering) and caused dizziness and faintness, so I stopped taking it. I still don't notice any problems urinating -- frequency, flow, and urgency all seem normal. And I don't leak.
But recently, I've had some blood in my urine on an intermittent basis. It is not constant. It happens every now and then, but most of the time I'm fine. And it doesn't cause me any discomfort.
Is that fairly normal for BPH? I know the enlarged prostate can aggravate the blood vessels on it, so is this something I should expect from time to time...or should I worry about it? I have tried reaching my urologist but haven't heard back from him.

Your bleeding might be caused by the kidney and/or bladder stones traveling through the urethra. Retaining urine makes those stones more likely to occur. Hank

I had blood in my urine just once. It was a tumor in my bladder. As soon as I mentioned it to my urologist, he sent me for a CT urogram and then did a cystoscopy to confirm. Surgery and the subsequent biopsy indicated it was cancerous. Immunotherapy prevented a reoccurence. The post therapy protocol was quarterly cystoscopies for 2 years! I am an expert at that procedure now.

The blood in my urine was caused by bladder stones. I had to have them surgically removed. Then I had Rezum to hopefully prevent the stones from forming again.

Hello, 70 Yr old here with prostate of 230g - very big - also with bladder stones seen in CT Scan and 3Tmri; Dr at JHopkins recommended stomach P Simple Surgery to remove portion of P - reduce size; Dr. at Univ of Okla could do robotic Simple Surgery to do same; Was scheduled for robotic in 3/2020 n cancelled due to covid. Presently on no meds; Sleeping 5-6 hrs; Bladder stones moving n diet causes bleeding with urine; then, it goes away for a week or 2; Had stones removed in 2014 via Cystoscope; One bout of retention and Catheter at ER in 2017; Will kick can down road before doing a surgery. Pee stream like mcdonalds straw; Sometimes split stream.
