BPH and terrible urination pain along with frequency - input please

Posted , 4 users are following.

I am trying to navigate my chronic BPH symptoms all of which have increased in frequency. When it flares up, there is immediate blockage and I get severe pain when urinating, terrible throbbing "needle" pain after completing the weak stream. Dehydration seems to be the trigger - I stopped caffeine and alcohol to try and find the variables. It seems one huge trigger is playing golf in the heat. I drink tons of water but almost every trigger point came from being "over heated" on the course which then lead to 24-36 hours of my terrible pain symptoms. I am on Flomax as an FYI.

Do others have this issue with BPH?

Sounds you really need to talk to a Urologist. First thing he's likely to do is have you take the IPSS, which will give you a score from 0-35. He can use your IPSS score to help diagnose any bladder obstruction. My IPSS was at 25 earlier this year. After surgery, I'm now at an 8 and falling.

What is your prostate size before the surgery? What surgery did you go for?
