BPH flare ups! Looking for help / Advice

I have been diagnosed with BPH and I am trying to manage the flare up and inflammation that grows into severe urination blockage pain - quite intense. Was recently in ER diagnosed with a UTI which has been treated. I am on Flowmax which seems to help some. However, the flare ups (which can last 48 hours) seem to be around alcohol consumption (which I know is on the "do not" list) which must cause enough dehydration to inflame the prostate. However, I have also noticed (through having a log) that the flare ups get triggered also when I am golfing, walking with caddies and in the heat. Wondering if others experience this cause-and-effect scenario(s). I will now drop my wine drinking (ugh) to try and test out if this might be the main culprit. I have dropped caffeine and my antihistamine but now the wine....?

Also is anyone taking something in addition to Flomax to help?

Dehydration was definitely a trigger for me. I say "was" because I'm six weeks into recovery from a TURP and hoping I've left my BPH issues behind me for good. But yeah, I suffered along for maybe 10 years on Flomax. Some good days, some bad. But peeing kept getting harder and harder. I was taking minutes to feel like my bladder was empty. It took an episode of AUR and getting catheterized to make me realize it was time to do something to fix it. For me, it was a TURP. Despite a painful recovery, I'm glad i did it. I'm now peeing like I did when I was 25. Feels amazing. Other guys go for less invasive procedures to various degrees. But it does seem like BPH only gets more severe over time so you should get educated on your options. Medication like Flomax and others can help but eventually they'll stop working and you'll have to have a conversation with your urologist. Best.
