BPH incontinence

Hello,

For those that struggle with BPH I have some questions

Did your incontinence get worse with time?

Did you end up wetting the bed?

Currently I have OAB with the BPH. I have some leakage and the urges are sometimes strong. so far the meds haven't worked.

I use pads regularly and poccasionally pull-ups if the urges are strong. Overall the pull-ups work best giving confidence that I won’t leak but are usually overkill. My worst nightmare is wetting the bed but fortunately that hasn’t happened.

Next urologist appointment is in January.

I put up with incontinence for several weeks. My GP that I go to for my regular yearly check up knew I was retaining urine, but he didn't seem to ever really understand the problem. He checked my urine and I had prostatitis, so his solution to my whole problem I guess was to give me antibiotics. I took the first round for 2 weeks Cipro and then some other one he gave me. Probably the worst month I've ever lived through.

Yes, I wet the bed and wore the diapers. I was afraid I was going to have to do this the rest of my life. The a/b did get rid of my prostatitis but did not help with the bph of course. I think the urine retention caused the UTI. I had no idea I was retaining that much even though it would leak often. I could not get very much out when I peed. It seemed that if I was doze off on the couch that is when it would let loose. I never really figured that out.

Long story short, I began doing cic and no more incontinence. I did some investigation and got the right catheter for myself. My medicare and insurance pays for them so that works out good. I still see my urologist, but i'm not ready to go into the hospital right now with Covid still present. I guess for a TURP one has to be inpatient for just a couple of days.
