Need to know if I'm the only one? Was diagnosed last year with BPPV second referral was diagnosed with Vestibular Migraines. I had a severe vertigo attack on Saturda that lasted up until now. However each day is getting better. My sinus has been really hurting me at the same time of the vertigo attack along with motion sivknedd. My tinnitus in my left ear has been alot louder. Pls can anyone explain to me what this is. Is It due to my sinus as they are still hurting today ?

There's alot of testing needed in order to tell what it could be. Alot of things cause these symptoms.

Hi Megan,
My name is Angie.. I Started my journey with labyrinthitis and BppV in 2015. I have an amazing ENT that has really helped me with dealing with my symptoms . I have constant sinus problems and infections that trigger my vertigo and horrific spinning. I take sinus medication which I get at any store and my doctor prescribes
Fluticasone. This really relieves the sinus pain as well as the vertigo. I have noticed that when I stay on top of controlling my sinus issues everything stays calm including the ringing in my right ear.
I hope you feel better 🌻

hi, I had all of these problems and more with an auto immune disorder. The migraine's, dizziness, fatigue, chronic sinus inflammation....also stomach problems misdiagnosed as ibs. All in all I had a lot of symptoms seemingly unconnected which are now under control with treatment. I am in a sort of remission now. You need to look at your blood work to see if there is an underlying cause of all of this. Things like esr crp and ana can be useful to look at as they can indicate underlying disease. Good luck.

hi sorry just saw your question. It's almost unimportant what I have because most auto immune conditions come with these symptoms and yes dizziness was a part of the symptoms. I have Behcet's but other conditions like Lupus and Sjogren's can cause the same issues. Behcet's has ulceration as part of the symptoms but the others don't and there are various other conditions which cause all of these symptoms we have mentioned. It's a very complicated area and needs to be looked at by the right kind of specialist. I was diagnosed via rheumatology who referred me onto an immunologist and it took a year or more before I had a proper diagnosis. At that point I had seen ent and neuro and gastro and none of them had anything useful to say about my symptoms. In fact they had no clue about what was going on. I now see a specialist who knows how to treat my condition and have achieved a sort of remission for the last 5 years symptoms have gone. I get a bit of dizziness now and pain in my feet but hydroxychloroquine seems to settle that. No migraine now for about 5 years. Completely gone. It was life changing to get rid of that. Good luck.

Was diagnosed with both BPPV and silent migraines affecting balance, also have tinnitus in left ear due to a head injury and the BPPV was also in left ear from crystals, as think damage from that side of the heady injury may have caused problem on that side also. The consultant told me not to get the BPPV mixed up with the silent migraines.
I was given Nortriptyline for the silent migraines which affect my vision, balance and perception, and as Epley manoeuvre diagnosed BPPV but didn't dislodge the crystals effectively, they dissolved on their own eventually. Now if I get any kind of blocked nose, sinus or heavy cold everything is worsened as it now my weak spot, so also use a nasal spray if I feel any nose blockage or sinus problems as have allergies also, so try to nip everything in the bud. Everything relating to ear, nose and throat may worsen balance. I am 80% improved overall but it was a struggle to get a proper diagnosis initially.
All best wishes.

Yes Anne iv seen two vestibular specialists one diagnosed bppv and the other vestibular migraines. It is hard to get a proper diagnoses. Im also suffering from bad fatigue. It's not tiredness it's more mental fatigue. I listen to music to try and avoid hearing tinnitus in my left ear.

Hi Megan, I did have both when I first started with balance problems but it was the silent migraines that caused the tiredness as my concentration was impaired and mental tiredness slows down everything. I've had the tinnitus since a head injury in 1996 and have pretty much adapted to that. Some people find it really difficult, I did for the first couple of years as use to enjoy the sound of silence and it was really annoying. When I realised it wasn't going away I just got on with it and tried not to let wear me down as there was nothing I could do about it. Now I only really notice at night in bed when it's really quiet but I have a fan permanently on during the night and the hum from that distracts me from the tinnitus, sometimes the tinnitus sound goes up or down in frequency or is lesser or worse at different times, but overall I can mostly ignore it now, flying worsens it for a couple of days after the flight and my ears are really sensitive during landing as the pressure changes.
Our ears are very finely tuned and it is really hard to get a definite diagnosis and for me it took a couple of years but I do think given my improvement since 2013 when it first started to now, 5 years later, that I am so much better.
Hope you get there too.
