Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!
I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.
It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.
I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.
Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.
I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.
All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.
I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same issues, as do others on this board. I've been dealing with it for about 2 years. Unfortunately, I'm not really any closer to getting the cause of it. Physical therapy and counseling have helped loads though.

Hi Henry!
Physical therapy for what? Are you referring to vestibule therapy? After physical therapy and counseling are you able to function and feel a bit better and try to live a normal life? Thank you for answering, right now my life just consists of laying in my bed going on 5 months

Elise, what you described sounds similar to what i experienced - pulling, can't focus, can't concentrate, dizziness etc. The detachment and dream like state you refer to is called derealisation. It can be a symptom that develops. I saw many doctors and had all tests done with nothing found and was given a few different diagnosis (including vestibular migraine) for a year before an orthoptics specialist tested my EYES and referred me to an opthamologist. It was here they found a problem with my focusing mechanisms which was causing all the other symptoms. I highly recommend seeing a orthoptics specialist and opthamologist to test your eyes. Also if you go to facebook and look up vestibular migraine groups there's a lot of support there for people experiencing similar symptoms (even if you don't have VM)

Funny enough. I recently sent to the eye doctors and he said I have similar issues, but after all the incorrect diagnosis I'm hesitant to believe that's the root cause. I'm supposed to start vision therapy. Have you done something similar?

I believe that this condition stems from my eyes and having the doctors find evidence of that confirms it. I've been given glasses first which i will need to wear for awhile before starting eye therapy. I think the eye therapy will help. I did vestibular therapy which didn't help because it was targeting the wrong thing.

I found out a had a hugely incorrect prescription, but I haven't started the new one yet. How has it made you feel this far?

Thanks for the information. I do suspect it might be something to do with my eyes as well because i feel dizzy when looking at objects/people when i am out.
However i have been to an eye specialist last month and he didn't find anything wrong with it. May i know what is this eye condition of yours called?

I also had an incorrect prescription given by a previous doctor (prism lens) but never wore them. It's taking awhile to adjust to the glasses (bifocals) but they have helped with the dizziness. Ps I saw three opthamologist before one of them picked up a problem, so keep on trying.

Hi Amanda!
Thank you so much for answering. One doctor said I have vestibular migraines and another said I have vestibular neuritis while a third said it's just anxiety (this really upset me, because my anxiety is stemming from all these problems). One doctor recommended I see an ophthalmologist and I'm seeing one soon!! Have your symptoms gone away? If so, how long did it take?

Hi Max, if you feel it is in your eyes there's a big chance it is. For awhile i thought it was in my brain because the first opthamologist told me
my eyes were fine (which they definitely weren't). Different doctors run different tests. I would highly recommend seeing another eye specialist for a second option. What i specifically have is called accommodative esotropia.

May i know when did you started to have this condition? My dizziness started following my appendectomy.Â

Hi Elise, you're welcome. I know how desperate and hopeless these symptoms can make you feel so if i can help anyone in any way with my experience i will
I was also told it was different things by different doctors - vestibular migraine, vertigo, anxiety induced, psychogenic, etc. The sad thing is i saw an opthamologist at the beginning who tested my eyes and told me everything was fine which is why i went to other specialists to find out what was wrong. It was my gut instinct that told me to get
another opinion about my eyes. Lucky i did. If i can suggest one thing which was KEY for me before seeing another opthamologist it would be to see a separate 'binocular or orthoptics specialist' to get specialized testing done then taking these results to the opthamologist. Get them to write out a referral if you can. This is what helped me get diagnosed properly. A standard optometrist will not do this testing.

I see.
I can't get much information about accommodative esotropia in adults but i will find a optometrist soon to check.
Thanks.

Hi Amanda!
Sorry I'm a little confused with the difference of a binocular specialist and an ophthalmologist. Does the opthamologist Not do the testing??? Thanks!
amanda95449 Elise93

An opthamologist does do some binocular testing to check basics but it wasn't as detailed as the binocular specialist.

An optometrist only checks your prescription and how well your eyes can see or whether you're far sighted or nearsighted not these problems! Make sure to see an opthomologisy, my neurologist said an optometrist can't help me! Good luck!

Oh so a binocular specialist does more specified testing but doesn't read results as well and aren't as knowledgeable as an opthomologist is???
amanda95449 Elise93

Yes a binocular specialist does more specified testing for vision problems. An opthamologist is more qualified than a binocular specialist but in a different way - they're more focused on the pathology side of things. Hope that makes sense

Okay that makes sense! Thank you so much for trying to help me, I'm so scared and desperate for an answer. I hope I find one soon and that you start feeling better as well. Good luck to you!

You're welcome. I hope you do get an answer but if not this time, don't give up! It took me over a year. The answer is out there, we just have to keep searching till we find it for each of us. Feel free to contact me if you need any more info or support 😊

Sorry I got cut off. I have been to many drs including having a full dilated eye exam, and they only told me I have slight near sighted issues. Would seeing an orthoptic specialist as you mentioned do something different to find these focusing issues? I have never even heard of that but it makes total sense with what I have going on, which is all the symptoms you've listed. Thanks!

Hi Bonni! I'm so sorry you're going through this too. :,( if you believe you have something going on with your eyes than just a normal near sighted issue (in which you would just need glasses or contacts) I would definitely suggest seeing a neuro-opthamologist or find a binocular specialist who can do testing on your eyes.
I went to a behavioral optometrist who did some testing on my eyes on said I have a convergence disorder (but said it doesn't explain all my symptoms), but I did not have the extensive testing that a binocular specialist would have done.
I hope you find some answers! If you truly believe it has something to do with your eyes, go seek out help from a specialist. It is worth it to find a proper diagnosis.

Thanks for the reply! I can't seem to find a binocular or orthoptics specialist... is there a specific place to look or a website? I did find a neuro ophthalmologist but I'm sure I'll need a referall, right? I did some across Binocular vision disorder while searching and that seems like a possibility, however they don't mention the brain fog or out of it feelings. There are only several places in the US that do that BVD testing, though.

Hi Amanda! What did you finally get diagnosed with? Did you need a referall to a bincoular or orthoptics specialist? I have all the symptoms you are describing. I saw a regular optometrist and full eye exam and came up with nothing besides very slight near sighted. Would a neuro ophthalmologist be able to do the same testing you describe? And have your heard of BVD? Binocular vision disorder? seems similar to what we're all describing here. Only select drs and places in the US do it. Thanks!

Hi Sab
i just saw your messages.
im sorry to hear you having been having a difficult time with your symptoms. i'm glad youre seeing specialists to help you.
i has an extremely hard time coping with my symptoms during the first year. but now i am doing much better and my symptoms have eased a lot. i've learnt to manage and get on with life with the other symptoms that remain.
For me, most of my problems were coming from my vision. Once i saw the right opthamologist, they gave me glasses and it helped a lot
with my dizziness and visual symptoms. i saw many many specialists and tried so many things. The doctors are right, stress and anxiety make everything worse. and now looking back on it, i was in a very stressful place when all my symptoms initially began.
I wish you all the best and have faith that things will get better even when you think they wont.

Hi my name is Lauren, ive been suffering with brain fog and off balance when i walk, it's like im on a boat in choppy waters! Its making me depressed! Ive had full bloods done, all came back good apart from Thyroid antibodies they were high coz i have Hashimotos Thyroiditis. My doctor wants me to try Chinese Acupuncture. I'm a little skeptical about it though. How did u find it? Did it help with your dizziness?
