Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!
I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.
It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.
I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.
Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.
I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.
All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.
I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi again Elise, it's just incredible how all of
Your symptoms are matching mine to 100% . As i been going to all the possible doctors exist here in South California and nothing they can find is wrong with me, besides convincing to start an antidepressants . I hope you finally get an answer, i wish you luck and if Mayo will be able to help you, PLEASE post in here, i been dealing with it for almost 2 years. And i feel really down and hopeless some days. It's hard for me write and express what i am really trying to say because english is not my first lang, thats why i wanted to contact you but you never replyed to my msg. What i noticed with all of my symptoms is that they get way itense once i am moving my head alot, or walking long distance , or if my eyes get to move and focus alot, then the dizziness ,that weird vertigo drunk dizziness gets 3 times worse. And i hv to lay down to fix my eyes at same spot to make the environment stop blurring (and swimming) so much.Do you get that? Do you get tremors as well, that people can not notice but u feel like ur hands and legs are weak, and shaky or vibrating from the inside?

Oh I'm sorry lanvyn I didn't realize you messaged me! I'm having a hard time reading everyone's messages and comments on this site now, and I can't scroll all the way to the bottom of the forum.
Yes I get that completely! It's like my eyes FEEL dizzy. I have a lot of visual vertigo. I can't walk outside for too long or turn my head at all while doing it. If I move my eyes a lot I feel so sick and have to lay down because I feel like my eyes are rolling around in my head.
I get tremors in my arms and legs. I'm very weak and sometimes my muscles spasm and I will shake and also have numbness in different parts of my body.
I will message you!

Did you ever get this figured out? I've felt the exact same way and was wondering if you had thyroid problems and this could be hashimoto's encephelopathy. Hope you feel better soon.

Hey to everyone! I wanted to reply and hopefully help other people with what helped me. Let me start by saying I'm sorry to everyone who has experienced this or is currently experiencing these symptoms. I like many of you had the same problem and have since made about 90 percent recovery. Everyone is different but these symptoms do subside and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. My symptoms began about 7 months ago. I woke up like any normal day and did my normal routine and went to work. Throughout the day I started feeling not like myself and had a headache I couldn't shake. I do suffer from migraines and take meds for them. I figured I had a bad migraine coming on so I kind of shrugged it off. Well it wasn't the case. Right before I was to go home I got dizzy and light headed and felt weak. I had a bad "room spinning sensation". Within the hour I was sick from nausea and had to go to er. I was kept for observation for 24 hrs and sent home with meds and "flu like symptoms" as my diagnosis. Upon arriving home I went to bed and realized I had vertigo. Now I say I had vertigo because I had it 2 years prior and the same symptoms. After 6 weeks the vertigo and dizziness subsided but I still wasn't myself. I want to note that during this time I did see doctors and had taken meds to help with pain and dizziness. Also I had many tests performed such as VNG, bloodwork, cat scans, MRI and many specialists. I learned a lot about vertigo and many things. Sadly not a lot is known about vertigo and how to treat it and it's hard to diagnose what form of vertigo you have. One thing I found is that the meds they prescribed were actually triggering the lingering effects and it has the reverse affect. Now back to the "brainfog". After the vertigo had passed I still felt bad and getting worse which didn't make sense. This is when they said I had "brainfog" and I learned a lot and how to cope. I was told after being diagnosed with "brain fog" my doctor said it would be up to 15 days and the symptoms would be gone! The reason he said 15 days was because that's the amount of time prescribed meds take to clear your system. I let it run it course and stopped with all meds so we could rule out any side affects. During this whole process as I stated in the beginning it happened 7 months ago and I've been unable to work due to my condition. After my 15 days it wasn't gone. I went back to my doctor and we started from scratch. Now during this time I was experiencing "depersonalization, extreme head pressure and it felt like I was "dragging a ton of bricks" on my head. Also I felt I couldn't remember everything, I was weak and very tired. I felt like I was in a zone and floating. My eyes hurt and had "stabbing pains". Even though I felt like this I looked normal. Luckily I had a great doctor and he understood. He told me to go ahead and do another MRI and go back to ENT which I did. During this time I also developed depression because you are helpless and you can't function. I got no results from ENT same results. After my MRI it was shown I had bulging disk in back and herniated disk in neck. Also it showed my "atlas bone" was off. The atlas bone is in the center of your neck and it's like a "lock nut" that connects to your spine. Mine was about 3 teeth over to the right. So I started physical therapy. After 8 weeks nothing so I went to a different chiropractor. In 2weeks at 3 days a week my atlas bone was realigned center. My "brainfog" was gone. After a week and some relief I started having symptoms again. I went back to the doctor. Now I do also have psoriasis and arthritis. I state this the psoriasis causes the arthritis and it's a auto immune disorder. Well I take an infusion for it. Due to being sick I didn't get an infusion. After going back to the doctor we concluded I was having "withdrawals" from the meds and that was also contributing to my "brainfog". The reason I told my story in detail was to say there is hope and I want to be able to help someone in a similar condition. Unfortunately you have to do a "process of elimination" for the culprit of "brainfog". In conclusion, what I have learned is start with having your atlas bone" checked. Many nerves and roots are in the area so it can be "pinched" or inflamed and it's not sending full signal to the brain. Also know what meds you are taking and side affetcs. I don't believe in being "drugged" but sometimes you need it. I was suffering from a withdraw and my immune system was acting up. I also learned women are more prone to have "brain fog" during pregnancy and the thyroid hormone as it's unfortunately worse in a woman with this disorder. Good luck to everyone suffering and thoughts and prayers your way! If anyone has any questions or something they want to ask please let me know. Again stay strong and get well and there is a light at the end of the tunnel

Hi Richard!
Omg everything you described almost fits all of my symptoms.. just like u I had many test done. Everything would come up normal.. I didn't understand how that was possible if I didn't feel "normal"..
Two diff neurologist i saw bit couldn't figure it out so they tried putting me on anxiety meds but I REFUSED to take any pills! What I was feeling wasn't "anxiety". I basically felt drunk 24/7.. tired eyes, weak, and couldn't focus.. also.. being in a mall of market would make me dizzy..
Meanwhile.. my neck would always hurt or feel like I had to crack it..
I began going to acupuncture and treating my neck, shoulders, and back... after the 1st treatment the brain fog had gone away.. and the "drunk feeling".. tht lets me know my neck has been the issue this whole freakin time!
I'm seeing a 2nd ENT and he ordered an MRI of my neck.., we'll see.. But so far acupuncture on my neck has really helped soooo much.. and prayer.. having faith in God. Good luck to everyone... and don't give up, be your own advocate.. some docs are stubborn!

Hello and thanks for the reply. Sorry you are feeling bad! I went for an evaluation with the physical therapist. You could feel the tightness in my neck and back. They decided with my tightness and symptoms they would start with an X-ray. The only flaw to this is the X-ray doesn't show the fluid and finer details as opposed to an MRI. I went the same day and results are immediate. It did show some concern but wasn't serious. Here's the kicker. I asked why would I get an X-ray and then MRI? See when people suffer vertigo or brain fog everyone always is quick to say neck and back. That's not always the case as there are many triggers. It's just unfortunate you have to do process of elimination. The X-ray was done so I could have a starting point with physical therapy which they recommend for 8 weeks 2 to 3 times a week. This to me is wasted time and an ins. killer. It did nothing for me honestly. I decided to go elsewhere because I needed results which I got. I found a chiropractor who would listen and understand my problem. He suggested 3 times a week @ 2 weeks and third if needed. I also did a spine decompression 1 time a week and 1 on the 3rd if needed. When I went he did adjustments and something that's like an ultrasound. It penatrates down to the muscle. When I was finished I went home and iced no heat for 20 mins every 2 hours. All this was done with the hands. I still currently go when I need an adjustment. Hope this helps and answers your questions! Good luck and get well soon!
