Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!

I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.

It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.

I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.

Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.

I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.

All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.

I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

-Elise

    Hi there,

I’m 18 years old and have had the same exact symptoms that you have described here, going on for about just over a week now and I just can’t concentrate on anything at all, feels like I’m in a dream all the time non stop, hoping I wake up one day and not feel this again, had it improved? If so, what helped?

Hi Elise. I hope you’re doing better. I just read through this entire thread. I could have written your story. I’m 41 and have been going through exactly what you describe, plus insomnia, for over 3 years. Wondering if you ever found anything to give you relief? Did anyone figure out what is/was causing this for you? I’d love to hear back from you.

What type of doctors have you seen so far?   I have been to an ENT, Neurologist, eye doc and spine orthopedist.   My issues started after a badly strained neck from a 70 mile bike ride.  My spine ortho was the last doc I saw and he seemed to have more confidence in some solutions for me than any others.  I am having an epidural steroid injection in my cervical spine on Friday to ease the pain cause by disc compression and my spine pushing into my spinal cord.  Doc seems to think this is what is causing the tight neck, dizziness, tension and head fog.  It’s miserable to live with so I would make sure you look at any and all options. Not sure this injection will solve everything but I am happy to have some direction now.

Hi, this could all be caused by a lack of sleep and stress. So make sure you de-stress and drink at least 1/2 gallon of water a day, plus make sure you get enough nutrients since your body needs it. Healthy Carbs (vegetables), Healthy fats, protein, vitamins & minerals. And go to bed around 9pm-10pm.

This all helps me a lot with my symptoms.. especially the water, potatoes and vegetables.

    Hi All,

I ended up having shingles. As soon as the blisters and pain came, the fogginess started going away. The pain is awful, but I'd honestly take this over what you are all feeling now. I hope the answer can be as simple as that for all of you.

Hi Elise93. I have now suffered from dizzyness, lightheaded, diorientation now for 7 years. I feel like im crab walking and when i lie down i still feel like my body is moving after i have the dizzyness i get a hot tingling feeling rush through my body. The pressure in my head is like someone has put an elastic band around my head starting at the eyes. I have constant ringing in my right ear. I also have been to doctors and told nothing wrong but like you and so many others we know our body and no something is wrong. I wish i had the answers but i also cant find one. It was only the other day, i was sitting here talking to my daughter when out of the blue im holding on to my arm chair as i started having another dizzy attack.

I have had all the same symptoms as you and more. My blood pressure goes extremely low constantly, I get spells where there is a heavy weight feeling on my head along with extreme heat and everything fades to black and I have to sit on the floor before I literally pass out. I have constant pain all the time and I experience numbness in my toes on one leg and my hands. I have also seen many doctors and spent four days in the hospital which they were treating me for a TIA (also known as a mini stroke) but now they do not know what it is that is going on in my body. On my last visit to a specialist a few days ago I told him I was tired of being me and I want to be fixed. I have a very good diet, I don't smoke, do drugs and nothing more than a social drinker. I have a very social lifestyle which has tapered with all this illness going on in my head and my body because I don't feel like being around people. On top of all this and them trying to put a bandaid on it they give me drugs which one was counter acting the other which caused even more symptoms and made my already s****y situation worse. I have spent full days where every time I stood I had to sit before I fell down. My hubby has come home from work to be with me or some days stayed home with me. This is not normal and when doctors look at you and think you're insane makes it even worse. I asked for a toxicology test and was basically denied. I live a gluten-free lifestyle and I'm normally a very physical, Lively and outgoing person. At this moment I hate but I have become and want to be me again.

So happy I found this discussion room and good luck to all of you who's on here.
