Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Posted , 353 users are following.

Hi everyone!

I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.

It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.

I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.

Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.

I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.

All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.

I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Elise, have you found any answers?

I just read this post from a year ago. My daughter is going through the exact same things as you. For almost 2 years now. No answers for us either. Dr. To Dr. everybody wants to do something g different. We are exhausted and frustrated. Trying to manage the anxiety that comes with it but it’s debilitating daily. She never leaves the house, has stopped all activities and has to Skype in with school now.

      Hi Stacy,

You should see a dietitian with your doctor. I am 1000% sure she lacks some essential nutrients - could be carbohydrates (gives most of the energy to the body in form of glucose , also feeds the brain), lipids, protein, water, vitamins and minerals..

The body is such a complex system that needs all of the above every single day!! The lack of whatever nutrients over a longer period of time could result in a deficiency and and later even kill cells and make a disease unreversable.

If deficient most people are deficient in iron, vitamin D, b 12, calcium and magnesium..

How old is your daughter? Does she drink milk? Does she eat meat or fish 3x a week?

Does she get enough iodide (very important for hormonal function)

Does she eat enough carbohydrates? (Vegetables, whole grains)

Does she get enough healthy fats?

Is she trying to stay skinny?

I thought I am eating ‚healthy‘, but I actually didn‘t eat enough and not balanced enough (eating the ‚rainbow’)

I made a diet analysis and was not getting enough carbs, vitamin D, vitamin b12, vitamin A, calcium and magnesium..

I adjusted my diet and take a multivitamin and extra calcium and magnesium (500 mg calcium in the morning, 500mg in the evening)

      I hope that helps

      Hello Stacy,

As I'm sure your aware there are many suffers on this website, and we all have these symptoms in common. Elsie has not replied to this thread for many months, so no one knows if she found a cure or recovered. I have been trying to find out what we all have in common so perhaps we can find a cure that way. I am curious, when did you daughter's symptoms start? What triggered them? Did something traumatic happen? Was she ill previously? Had she taken ANY medication in the run up to her symptoms? Had she had an operation? Is she on medication now? Apologies for all of the questions but I think it's important for all of us to start trying to get to the root of our problems.

      Many thanks

      Jessica

First off, she is Type 1 Diabetic. So this complicated everything. She’s 17 now but was diagnosed @ 15 months old. We have been to multiple drs. With no answers. But we are consulting with a place locally that is health and wellness verses traditional medicine. They talk with me weekly. We are trying to get my daughter calmed down first because she’s not even leaving the house. The dizzy out of body and heaviness in Her head has caused so much anxiety, she can hardly function. I try to give her a balance of protein, carbs everyday. She doesn’t drink sugary drinks or eat fruit. She eats vegetables pretty well. We’ve ran test after test and nothing comes back Abnormal. We did a cortisol test recently. She does have elevated levels at night that we are trying to adress. She is terribly constipated. We give her fiber but it doesn’t seem to help. Got some new things to try yesterday that has magnesium in it plus brain balance. Also some aloe Vera capsules. She takes Gabba. Her blood sugar levels are all over the place so I’m sure she’s dehydrated too.

Stacy I’m so sorry about your daughter. I know all too well the feelings of prior body, heaviness in head cloudiness pressure and fogginess on top of dizziness is so much to bear. It is truly 100% debilitating, I can no longer drive haven’t driven in a year and a half, I can’t even sit in lectures to finish my bachelors degree. I can’t go in stores or grocery shopping or barely outside at all.  I am so sorry she is going through this. It truly is the most debilitating thing one can experience

Hey there, it started around the same time her cycles started.  About 20 months ago at age 15. Shes 17 now. She’s been Type 1 Diabetic since she was 15 months old.

It gets worse around her cycle time but she’s not regular, not every 30 days or even 40 or 50 days. But the symptoms never go away though. Just get worse.

She’s on 2 different insulin’s and thyroid meds. That’s it. Besides some supplements we’re trying.

She had a surgery for a broken finger from a sports injury. As far as trauma. We can’t see that anything happened except she had been homeschooled her whole life and once we put her in A school one day a week, she got very stressed. Still talks about it. She Skypes in with the private school now because she can’t go . She doesn’t go anywhere anymore. It is debilitating daily. We can’t even get her to church , to hang out with friends, to go to family funerals or weddings. We miss everything and we’ve always been a very active family. Thank you for your questions. I hope these answers help.

Hi Stacy! I read your reply to Jessica. Have you seen a doctor specializing in vestibule migraines? The fact that she feels so much worse during her menstrual cycle is an indicator it could be a severe case of vm because hormones play such a big role

      Hi Stacy,

I checked on high cortisol in my nutritional science book and it says:

Cortisol (produced in the adrenal glands) also regulates glucose metabolism. Cortisol (often referred to as stress hormone- (since prolonged stress provokes higher levels of cortisol in the body) stimulates protein degradation and gluconeogenesis (generation of glucose from non-carbohydrate carbon substrates such as lactate, glycerol, and glucogenic amino acids when there is not enough glucose from carbohydrates) and reduces the uptake of glucose by the muscle cells - both of these actions increase blood glucose levels.

This could maybe show that she lacks carbohydrates that as I said are essential for body function (energy production) and the brain.

Constipation: Fiber (best in form of fruits, vegetables) and water.

And since it sounds like your daughter is not getting out very much, her Vitamin D could be low. Also since she is a young lady, her Iron. Omega 3 is also very good for the brain. If she does not drink milk or eat any dairy - then also her Calcium could be low - Calcium is very crucial for the body -not just for teeth and bones, but Calcium in the blood also stimulates the release of hormones, activates enzymes and helps the nervous system transmit messages.

I honestly think that my heavy had and brain fog got better is related to my higher calcium intake. And I also like the Aloe Vera. I take it every night with the calcium and magnesium before I go to bed.

I can also propose to you that I can make a diet analysis for your daughter. If you would like to write down 3 days of what she eats and drinks (no supplements) I can see what she is missing.

      Hi stacy,

Maybe you need to take her to see a holistic dr, it could be an auto immune desease tgat she has

Hi, this could be a sign of iron deficiency. Iron needs are highest during growth spurts and after the onset of menstruation. Adolescents need more iron that younger children or most older adults to support muscle growth and increased blood volume. Girls need additional iron to replace the loss due to menstruation.

      (15mg /day)

And she could be iron deficient if she is not eating fortified grains, lean meats, seafood, nuts and legumes.

Symptoms: weakness, fatigue, short attention span, poor appetite, increased susceptibility to infections, and irritability,  paleness, exhaustion, rapid heart rate.

Hello Stacy, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. OK that's very interesting. My depression and anxiety began returning after I took emergency oral contraption, it affects your hormones terribly. Has she has any ultra sound scans of her reproductive system? You say her periods are irregular, has the doctor ever discussed polycystic ovary syndrome? I'm sure if your like us, the doctor will done all tests under the sun, but it's important not to rule these things out. If you haven't already do some research on it as it began when her periods started and gets worse around her cycle. Also how long has she been on thyroid medication? And her surgery for her finger, when did that happen? As was it general or local? I imagine that school was stressful for her and I'm sorry to hear that but I do not believe these symptoms are psychological, I believe they are physical and that anxiety and depression are a symptom. You say your daughters blood sugar is all over the place and your think she's dehydrated, well that is also a cause of constipation so hopefully if you can address the dehydration it will help with that. Also please research the keto diet. It is used for people with diabetes as it makes the body regulate insulin as it removes carbs and all sugar which can cause blood sugar to spike. Obviously there's alot to take in here as we all have different theories ect but the more things we eliminate, the closer we get to a cure.

Hi Stacy. Just read your post. I am going through the same symptoms since last 4 years. I guess your dear daughter is facing some post traumatic symptoms. Would you mind if we get in touch over WhatsApp? I really feel like getting in touch with people with similar symptoms as it gives lot of support to either ends. If yes then feel free to msg me over 9881907179
