Brain fog, dizziness, vision problems, head pressure, headache PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!

I don't know where else to go, and was hoping someone could please help me. I'll start off by saying I'm a 23 year old Caucasian female. Going on 5 months now, I have had absolutely debilitating symptoms which have hindered my daily life. I feel these symptoms every moment of every day.

It started with dizziness and a persistent brain fog. I just thought I had a bug, and tried to go on about my life. However, my symptoms have never gone away. This "brain fog" I am talking about is a feeling of complete mental confusion, I have no memory, I cannot concentrate on anything, it feels like there's a dark blanket on my brain clouding all my thoughts. I have extreme disorientation and haziness. I feel like I'm always in a dream like state.

I am constantly dizzy and feel a pulling sensation, as if I'm ready to fall over at any moment. It feels like there's air inside my head, and I'm always very lightheaded. Whenever I try to drive I feel this pulling sensation pulling me down.

Another problem I have is with my vision. I am having very blurred vision and have double vision. Everytime I look at something up close it is extremely blurry and I cannot see at all. My perception on things has completely changed. I feel like everything looks very odd and strange and I don't have the right depth perception. It's like I'm in a horrible dream like state all the time.

I have been having headaches and head pressure as well, and having horrible pains behind my eyes. The pin starts from the back of my head close to my neck and continues up my head and the sides of my temples. My eyes hurt so bad, and it feels like knives are jabbing my eyes. My head also feels extremely heavy all the time.

All these symptoms have been causing me severe anxiety, and I have been having panic attacks from them and feel like I'm dying. It is causing a strange disrespity sensation, where I feel like I'm not even here anymore and there's a detachment from myself and my body. I have had to drop all my classes at college and quit my job because these symptoms make me lay in bed all day long. I have been unable to drive for months and can barely get up to walk around. If anyone could please help me or know anything as a suggestion to try.

I have been to my general doctor, 2 ENTs, 1 neurologist, have had 2 MRIs, a hearing test, VNG, multiple blood tests, and no one knows what is wrong. I can't live like this anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Elise,

I had same symptoms you talked about especially with my vision for 5 months. Mine started with brain fog and dizziness, being from Nigeria, I suspected malaria and typhoid which whenever i had comes with these symptoms, so I started treatment immediately but there was no improvement. I went to my doctor who also treated me saying i had resistant malaria, i was placed on IV quinine which helped clear the parasite from my blood, but i kept on having dizziness, headache, brain fog, general body weakness, head pressure/heaviness, and severe blurry vision. I started panicking because I've never been this sick, being a radiographer, i did a brain mri at work just to rule out tumor or any other brain issue and it was normal. I ended up seeing different doctors which complicated things more because they all administered drugs on me which i guess was too much for my system, so i was battling drugs side effects which were worsening my symptoms until a general doctor advised that i stop all medications and see an eye doctor to check my eye pressure and i did and it turned out that my eye pressure was high (27 on the right eye and 25 on the left) and i also had astigmatism. The eye doctor started treatment with some oral drugs and eye drop to control the pressure and also advised i wear glasses to correct the astigmatism which is causing the headaches, according to him, the headache is from my eyes and not my brain and since i started treating the eye pressure, I've felt a lot better, my sight have greatly improved, the ophthalmologist placed me on monthly appointments to monitor the eye pressure. I hope this helps

i had similar issues for years and always felt it was a gut/brain thing. When i was scheduled for a colonoscopy my gastroenterologist did a DNA test and found that i have one of the two genes for celiac disease and told me to stop eating gluten. a year later my symptoms are mostly gone though i do have bouts of vertigo occasionally. I think the purge you do in prep for the colonoscopy cleared out a lot of bad flora and that with elimination of gluten really helped me. This may not be what is the cause of your problems but i would schedule a DNA test and see if you are gluten intolerant.

Elise , consider it being a muscular issue . Check put some of Dr.Mandell's video's on Youtube . Go to see a muscle movement therapist . It's all about muscle retractions affecting your nerves !!!! Good luck .

I have had the same problems for over fifteen (15) years. No one has figured out the cause or any possible solution.

It started out as a just being tired and light pressure in back of head. I have spend so much on doctors, PT, xrays ct's mri's, eye exams, herbs, vitamins, minerals, nothing worked.

only thing I do now is exercise to keep my body strong, go for long walks or hikes or bike rides to distract myself from the feelings. only eat organic, no or low gluten,

very little meat, drink organic coffee with one table spoon butter or coconut oil as it prevents the coffee rush.

don't go out and socialize anyone as crowded places or confined spaces seem to aggravate my visual balance issues.

once I figured out that no one could fix my problem my anxiety went away. I took back control and just dealing with my issue on a day to day bases. vision keeps getting worse but now that I'm 70 ago related issues make recovery slower.

I pray those having this problem find some help and improvement with their health issues. stay away from too much wireless networks, G5 wireless is really bad. stay hydrated and avoid or reduce alcohol. walk barefoot and/or stay grounded to the earth.

wishing you all the best and some recovery.

Have you done binocular function test? It does affect your balance, same as the inner ear. Also, did you look at the alignment of the neck? This should be checked by a NUCCA chiro or done by a chiropractor who specialises in atlanto-orthogonal chiropractic, I try to avoid having my neck cracked as I feel it affects my C1 It is though ridiculous how much money we spend on these tests...

I have these symptoms and have suffer'd them for nearly 11yrs .

4 of my GP's over this time have said its Anxiety/panic but I'm not really convinced. I'm always at the Dr's and hosp with me freaking out over the symptoms but they all say it this disorder.

I went the other day for a symptom I was having really weird head or brain sensations that make me really lightheaded feel sick, I have a slight headache with this but isn't that bad, then out the blue after 11yrs my Dr said we will send you to a neurologist and there was me told for the last 11yrs I had all tests.

So this is me totally panicking about my symtoms, it's really hard to describe these sensations in my head, feels if my brain is shaking and numb along with my eye's and ear's, it's very scary when they come on...when they go I conti to be very lightheaded and have very jelly legs, it really take every bit of energy I've got...

Hi, I had the same symptoms and I am convinced it's IBS and migraines. I did a food sensitivity test and it came out that I am sensitive to gluten and dairy. I am now leaving those out of my diet and I feel much better now.

You need to be aware that there is a direct brain gut connection. If something is off in your gut your brain/head acts weird.

Certain food can trigger symptoms. I figured it's all that is not good for your nerves.. it could be:

sugar, dairy , stress, lack of sleep, caffeine, alcohol, gluten , not eating frequently enough, fried food

      hope this helps.

you have identical symptoms I do . Do research on vestibular migraines which describes the giddiness headache and anxiety over the feelings of unreality that always are unwelcome. They are scary but so typical of vestibular issues... Knowing so many have what you have, I try not to escalate symptoms by adding fear to fear. Learning how to let go and practice deep abdominal breathing to relax. I always say I can bear the discomfort without letting my imagination catch fire!!! Worry OMG what if try to say this is my condition accept accept accept it wont hurt you its annoying.. For me low dose Lorazepam helps when santa ana or barametric pressure changes full moon more pressure.. decrease salt!

Elise93 1st NEVER give up. I have had the problem for over 5 years. here is what I do to handle it.

1- exercise daily. also try QIGONG and Tai Chi to help with balance and coordination.

2- get away from sugar, soda, and too much caffeine. if you eat sugar then try local raw honey with organic Cinnamon.

3- eat organic foods. cut back on meat and increase wild caught fish. avoid shell fish and bottom feeders.

    4. try adding good fats like Ghee and olive oil and cut back on fried foods.

    5. drink plenty of spring or filtered water. your weight divide by 3 and multiple by 2. 115/3=38.33/2=76.66 oz water

    6. see Chiropractor to make sure you back and neck and head are in alignment. ask friends and references as not all are good.

    7. learn to meditate to help with anxiety. Do your research on Ashwagandha and Saffon.

    9. get good nights sleep.

hope you can find improvement and strength in these suggestions. NEVER give up and continue to do your research.

I have just come across this discussion. I have had what I can only describe as a muzzy head, blurred vision, heavy eyes and dizziness for about four months now. It is driving me mad.

It is difficult to go to work and function normally. Initially I thought it was to do with my varifocals but it makes no difference if I wear them or not.

Doctor has given me anti sickness tablets which aren't working. I am on propanalol for anxiety and statins. Someone the side effects of statins could be coursing it but I have no idea.

I also have ibs and diverticulitis and not sure if they are related. I honestly don't know what to do. I have a spaced out brain fog feeling which is so difficult to live with!

hey every one. i also suffer from all of the symptoms that you all do. Not sure if this will help you guys but I've had these problems for years and i too got them after a lot of drinking and i noticed a lot of you after antibiotics. Look up the symptoms of lacking the vitamin B12 and also CANDIDA. Having knowledge on both of those could possibly help you guys! Let me know if it helps!
