Brain fog, tightness and dizziness, help please..?

Basically, I'm going to recount what has happened in a chronological order:

Two nights ago (Sunday night), I stood up to use the bathroom. The action was somewhat fast. From that point, I had immediately been clouded with brain fog and random dizziness. Due to how scared I was at the time, not aware of what it was, I only managed to get 6 hours of sleep that night! Ever since, the brain fog and dizziness continues to persist. I've even gotten a tightness in my head now. It's been going on for nearly 48 hours now and I'm very concerned. I am considering going to the doctor after observing this for a few days to see how it progresses. Unfortunately, for everyone else who suffers from these symptoms I hear it only gets worse... and lasts a long, long time. This is a GREAT inconvenience for me as I'm only 16 years old and have my GCSEs literally a month away...

Now for a more in-depth look at my symptoms: I feel like I'm in a dream, but I do function optimally; I can perform everyday tasks just how I used to except it feels like I'm performing them in a dream instead of in real life...

A slight tightness in my forehead.

Dizziness as times where I feel I lose my balance, however when I physically check my balance by standing on a single leg and stretching my arms out everything is fine... I can remain balanced for as long as I know I'm capable of.

Any medical history that should be known? I do have a really sensitive caffeine intolerance, which means traces of caffeine in chocolates can be picked up and have an effect on me. I've been having so much chocolate for the past week, and even had it on Sunday (the day it happened). That could potentially be a cause? But I'm really not sure and just need to see what you guys have to say about this. Any help, advice or anyone going through the same thing???!!

Typical signs of migraine, tight band around forehead and especially if chocolate is a trigger.  Stress related probably due to GCSE's.  Stay off chocolate and see what happens.  Good luck with exams.

It doesn't sound like any serious form of vertigo if your balance hasn't been affected. Sounds more like a combined caffeine and sugar rush to me. Also there are all kinds of minor viral infections that can affect people of your age.

However, I'm not a doctor and you can't get diagnosed on a forum. The smart thing would be to go and see your doctor for a general check-up and blood tests, rather than scaring yourself with things you've read on-line.wink

I had a severe vertigo attack followed by the symptoms you're describing.  It's slowly been getting better over the past 18 months.  Good days and bad days.  My balance was always quite good except with my eyes closed.  I have vestibular neuritis.  Please see an Otologist to find out exactly what is going on with you.  Different people recover at different speeds.  You're young so hopefully it will be quicker.  Look on line for vestibular rehab therapy exercises (VRT).  They are very helpful.
