Brain MRI, help understand

Posted , 2 users are following.

I Had a brain MRI and there is a sentence in the findings I can't seem to grasp what they mean by it. It was a scan for MS/ALS.

Quote:" the appearance and distribution of the lesions is not typical or classic for a primary demyelinating process. The appearance is not in keeping with a neurodegenerative process such as als." End quote.

How do they know if not als. You can't use MRI to diagnose als.

Why would they say that?

ALS is diagnosed with an EMG test. MS is diagnosed with MRI

Sounds like they are not concerned with the results.  Ask your doctor for an explanation.
