Brain Tumor anxiety

Hi, I hope i dont seem selfish for thinking this way, but recently my anxiety hasnt been too bad, until this lady i work out with (shes probably in her mid 40s, and im 21.) told us she has been living with a brain tumor for 5 years, she just brought it up randomly and we were kinda shocked.

This kinda triggered my health anxiety, because now i keep thinking stuff like "What if i have a brain tumor and i dont know it?" "what if i have one that just started to grow?" "You defiantly have brain cancer" "you will start feeling symptoms soon" These thoughts have triggered bad headaches. Last year i convinced myself i had brain cancer when my anxiety was high and i got horrible headaches, so i know these headaches are caused by anxiety. However because someone else told me they had a brain tumor my mind has convinced me that i have one and i am dying....

Of course i care for this lady and i hope her tumor is nothing to be worried about, she is a very positive person and she doesnt at all seem bothered by this, but its been freaking me out for weeks. Is there any advice someone can give me so i can stop worrying about having brain tumors??? Again i hope i dont sound selfish.

hi i share the same experience as you have and im 16 it really is stressful because whenever i find something wrong in my health i tend to overthink and think that i have the worst illness possible. I advice for you not to overthink too much and if you really are concerned maybe check up with a doctor to give you some peace of mind. know that youre not alone cause i experience the same thing!!

please don’t play the what if game. It will drive you crazy. u dont have a brain tumor, you have fear .

if you let fear take over it will convince you that something is wrong. odds of you having a brain tumor are extremely low.

the person with the brain tumor has nothing to do with you. Headaches are extremely common. Especially with anxiety. You would have other symptoms with a brain tumor. Stop wasting your life with worry and fear. Get some counseling for your anxiety.

Headaches are not normally the first symptom of a brain tumour. Other symptoms will present first. If you have none of these, you are probably ok. 😃
