Brain tumor or ear problems?

Posted , 7 users are following.

I got diagnosed with Labyrinthitis after a cold I had at the end of the December by an ENT. I had a hearing test and it came back perfect. My ENT said because of the way my hearing test came out she said it most likely wasn’t a brain tumor. In January I went to VRT and the guy I saw did basic neurological tests on me. After those tests I was like “So, is it a brain tumor?” And he said I definitely do not have a brain tumor! He said I would have more symptoms than just dizziness/off balanced and it would be really bad.

Fast forward: My dizziness since then had disappeared by end of January. I had a cold recently and the dizziness/off balanced feeling started again, but this time I’m convinced it’s a brain tumor. I had a weird vertigo attack the other day which absolutely scared the f**k out of me (I’ve had vertigo before, but this freaked me out). Everything else is fine, but if I’m not dizzy I’m worried about getting dizzy. If I am dizzy I’m freaking out I’m gonna drop dead. I just need some peace of mind! Brain tumor symptoms don’t just come and go and I know there would be more wrong, but idk my health anxiety is going CRAZY.

Thank you!

Sydney, same case here as well as so many others on these forums. Do u have trouble with yr ears at all? Stopping up or feeling full? I was diagnosed with ETD. that also brings on the dizzies. ENT put me on flonase spray and haven't had anothr dizzy since. If a brain tumor, correct, pain so severe I hear ya pass out..no..I truly blev it's all in the ears..that controls the balance..i was gettin so dizzy I was throwing up. .horrible..but it's been over a month and so far so good..hope this helps..ck out online ETD and c if yr symptoms are related..then just try to relax. I notice when I'm stressed my head feels off balanced..

I don’t think it’s ETD because at the ENT they checked the pressure in my years and it was all fine. I was thinking ETD because one of my nostrils is always stuffed up so maybe my adenoids? (I read that was a thing with that I think) by she didn’t put a camera to look. I just hate being dizzy and stressing out doesn’t help.

I feel you with the anxiety I have it too, I notice when I get worked up and stressed about it, it definitely makes my head feel worse. I almost got in an accident because of dizziness and nausea happening all of a sudden and my anxiety makes it hard for me to drive because I am afraid it will happen again it sucks. I have been told by my ENT to take Flonase as well and I have just started it today. Advise given by Terrie has made me not feel alone on the ear problem and make me hopeful it will subside in time. It is amazing what an ear infection can do to your balance.

Relax   I have had dizziness and headaches for a long time.  Hopefully the Doctor will come up with something soon.   My Doctor is just now referring me to ENT Doc after getting pounding sound in ear!! Hope you find answer soon   Unfortunately the medical people are really slow or super fast on problems they can’t explain

I had all of your symptoms but more besides which developed along the way. I have a form of vasculitis. These are symptoms common to a whole host of ilnesses including auto immune disorders. If you had a brain tumour diagnosis would be quite straightforward. I lived with it for 10 years until I got a diagnosis and treatment. I wish you well. Check all your bloods including esr crp and ana to find if there is another underlying cause. Don't worry and eat well and rest well. Good luck.

Can any of them request an MRI?  Or your primary care doc?  Just wondering...not giving medical advice.
