So Iv been taking orlistat for 6 days struggling to go for a number 2 no oily accidents yet so I must be doing something right at least I'm hoping adding more fibre to my diet will help me go as I'm not keen on prunes or most other things that help you go. Anyone have any other useful tips Iv been drinking 2 litres of water a day also. I'm a bit worried as before I started taking this I used to usually eat only one big meal per day now I seem to be eating more but nothing's coming out sad

    Hi  Ceejay :-)

That might be what your problem is, the fact that you have changed the way you are now eating! It will take a little while to get used to your new diet and it is quite usual to be a little constipated in the begining. Maybe you could take a mild laxative to help things along.

Thanks for your replies I want to try not to go down the laxative route I didn't really prepare for a healthier diet last week as I'd just done the weekly and managed to get an appointment to see the nurse at my practice straight away I think because I mentioned to her id tried orlistat a couple of years ago and gave up after the first week cos of the dodgey side affects she didn't bother to give me much information on diet but last time I just weren't determined enough this time I'm ready for it and Iv been on a lower fat diet since moving to a new area in March. I will admit I don't usually buy fruit cos I'm not a big fan although I could eat veg till it comes out my ears but I have bought oranges apples and grapefruit this week cos I'm 100% determined this time round.

Actually yeah come to think of it I had to stop my little one from eating apples after months of going back and forth to the quacks with suspected gastroenteritis when a doctor suggested to cut apples out of his diet even anything apple flavoured set him off luckily apples are my favourite. I like the taste of fruits it's the texture I can't get on with even texture of oranges is a bit iffy for me I think I may have to invest in a decent blender n knock up some smoothies. Thanks Britney oh I btw I read a bit more of your blog and I love IC heels too but never bothered to buy a pair as I just wouldn't wear them I'm currently 17 n half stone n I just can't manage to wear heels for longer than half an hour

So I still haven't been going regularly and Wednesday I bought some laxatives took them before bed Wednesday night expecting them to work as soon as I woke up how wrong was I I had a busy day Thursday as well and weren't in the house I had to keep dashing off to the nearest toilet. I was hoping that it would just be a kick start to more regular movement but again yesterday I didn't go i just have really bad wind I don't know whether to give the laxatives another go because I think I was really stupid taking them Wednesday night when I had to be out all day Thursday

I haven't read the other replies but I find a few tricks work for me!

Salad - totally vege followed by an epsom salt bath before bed (drinking lots while in bath too)

Can be purchased online or local chemist. I use about 400g per bath about 3 times a week, so I got a large 25kg bag as I find the magnesium absorption so calming

Made a really spicy curry last night seems to have done the trick this morning. Before I started this diet I used to usually eat just one meal a day it just seems strange that now I'm eating more and more often that nothing's coming out the other end I mean it must be going somewhere because I am losing weight. I am seriously going to look into ordering some Epsom salts though I did look on the website that you said you had bought yours from it works out hell of a lot cheaper to buy them in bulk and I think my partner would benefit from them as well he's always stressed lol
