Hi all this is my first weekend since joining this fab group, it's early days but thought I would share my postive start x

I started my diary and that's helping, writing thoughts etc.. I also used my timer on my phone and timed 45 mins per glass, I actually didn't need it as I managed 3 small glasses and had enough, this has to be the first Friday in about 15 years I've had less than a bottle so it's a big deal for me :-)

Also I spoke to my sister, she is closest to me than everyone and really hates my drinking so it was very hard, I was honest and told her she was my biggest fear as she is so judgemental but it helped to say it!

Anyway this is all tiny steps but I'm

Feeling positive,

Night friends and good luck to everyone who is struggling tonight, I know I'll be there too at some point

Feeling positive for now tho 😃

Way to go girl, when I quit drinking a year ago I was quite sick and bought a small bottle of vodka instead of my usual large one, and I knew I needed to have that last drink, then a good nap, and prepared myself when I woke up that I would not have any, that it was the end, and I quit. That was that. I think some alcoholics know what will work for them and they make it work, and can have success in quitting.

    All the best to you...

well done keep it going, is this with will power alone ?
    • Posted

Yes this is with will power alone and I have to say speaking to people on this forum is really helping because there are like minded people and I've never shared my problem before with anyone, I feel positive for the first time in a long time 😃

Fingers crossed because I know there's no magic cure

    Good for you

I told my kids about my drinking and was worried my oldest would be judgmental as well .... turns out she is the one who supports me the most. So ya just never know.

Keep up the good work and best of luck to you smile

That is very positive, I've found mine not so as I kind of expected and got a list of the reasons why it is a good idea, mainly listing the way I made her feel and that she hated seeing it and that she's been on the other end of me upsetting people, blah blah and whilst I appreciate these things may be true that are also not what I need to hear just now when I've made this momentous decision, to be honest it just made me want a drink 😥I haven't had one and I will try to remain positive xxx

good for you for not having one smile I found sometimes when I so wanted a drink I would have a hot bath or do some kind of exercise, dont forget sometimes we mistake alcohol craving for a sugar craving because there is so much sugar in drinks smile

Good that you mention this Sue, this happens a lot, in manny times we are craving, it's craving for sugar.

Thats why I allway's have something sweet with me.

I up, keep on going in the right direction people,
