Breast lump.

hi,

ive just seen my GP who has referred me to breast clinic (have to wait 2 weeks!) she found a 1cm hard lump in my left breast. The lump she felt im pretty sure ive had for well over 3 years! its never changed in size and i notice it more when im on my period. Reason i visited her is because ive been having soreness in that breast but i do suffer from costo....(not sure of the spelling) but basically my chest wall, shoulder and ribs become inflammed and sore due to an injury few years back. my breast pain may be due to that but shes referred me cos of the lump. im freaking out!! ive never thought of it as a 'hard' lump and now those words have been said im terrified its something sinister. any advice? im 30 years old and no other changes to my breast.

Relax. If this is something that you have had for years without any changes I think your safe. On the other hand you don't want to worry and the only way to resolve this is to go to the breast clinic and have everything checked out. They specialize and know more about breast issues that your GP. They may even be able to help you with the soreness. I don't know "costo" but try not to worry. My lump was a surprise to me when it showed up on a mammogram and I was shocked and scarred. So I understand freaking out. My lump was cancer but it was caught early and everything was resolved over 20 years ago. I continue to follow up yearly with a specialist because I never do self exams (shame on me) because everything feels lumpy to me. Good luck.

thank you for your reply! ive always checked my breast over last few years for any changes and never notice anything. Costochondritis is the right name...ive had that about same length of time due to my son lifting himself up onto my chest when he was young and if caused it to constantly be bruised and sore which causes me to have that condition were your bones inflame and cause them to be sore...my chest, shoulders and ribs are all affected now. my breast itself isnt sore...its more the side near my ribs and towards my shoulder area. ive got pretty lumpy breasts anyways..well i think i have! i think it was the lump she felt that ive had there for a while or it could be another close by but their really little. ill have to see what happens at breast clinic. hope i dont have to wait long for app.

Hi ! How are you? I went to see gp today because three days after my period i felt slightly discomfort in my right breast. I checked and felt a lump. it's a bit hurting. I check my breast regularly Icouldn't believe. The doctor said to me that it feels like a syst for her. I need to wait for 2 weeks. My appointment is on 24 of June.

Thank you for the support and reassurance.
