Breast Pain like "milk coming in"

I am 44 with 4 teenagers all of whom I breast fed. I was sterilized after my 4 child was born 15 yearsago so no chance that I am pregnant.

For a few weeks now I have been experiencing several times a day the sensation that I can only liken to" milk coming in" or" letting down" when I was breast feeding. My breasts are not producing milk and are not particularly tender but it is uncomfortable and not a little distracting!.

Has anyone else experianced this? Is it something to do with onset of menopause? Should I be worried?

I have for about a week only on my right breast, my breast specialist told me it's because of perimenopause the transition towards menopause. Of course I got completely freaked out and called her immediately but she says it's normal. I have had other breast issues but so far everything has been bening including the let down feeling. I hope you are doing ok.

That can be signs of a pituitary tumour/prolactinoma as increases prolactin levels like making breast milk which is a sign/signal if not expecting and in a fertile female can make them infertile as it effects the ovaries!

something to get checked likewise if get and male has same effect.
