Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

Has anyone had BB for a year now? I wonder if it depends how long you've had it & how soon you treated w antibiotics?

    Hello all,

Has anyone tested blood work with their Docs on liver, pancreas, diabetes, allergies, etc...?

Has anyone tested for parasites or bacteria aside from h.plori...?

Or checked if they have a white tongue, oral thrush that can cause dry/bad breath?

I suffered with bad breath for about 5 years, I tired everything (mouth washes, flossing, tonge scrapers, anti fungal medicine from my GP, I also went to see an ENT, To which non of these things helped.. I still had bad breath (the ENT Reckoned it was all in my mind, which I can tell you it wasn't! My breath smelled like rotting eggs. I could taste it all day every day, the smell would also come out my nose, so I could not sit beside people let alone talk to anybody which made my life hell, I started to notice a funny taste coming from my lower right molar (big tooth at the back of the mouth 3rd molar) to which I done some research about, and found out Nerves can die in the teeth, causing a decaying taste (rotten eggs) so I was convinced it was my tooth which I told myself needed to be pulled out!! So I had it pulled out by my dentist and low and behold it fixed my bad breath.. 90% of bad breath is dental I'm so much happier now in life smile

I'm glad you found the cause of it. Congrats!

By any chance did you have a dry/white tongue or burning tongue feeling?

Yesterday, I saw primary & dentist but my teeth are fine I'm waiting for a referral to see a periodontist.

Once again, I'm so happy for you. Your life will feel richer from from finding a solution.

I don't think you have read what most of those contributing to this thread have written when is that they have great oral hygiene, yet have chronic bb. In your particular situation it was due to you tooth decay, but where does you 90% come from? It is a wild assumption which does not help. One of the main cause of bb is poor oral hygiene, but in the absence of that there are some unexplained cases and because it is not associated with any life threatening conditions it is just dismissed as poor oral hygiene issues or something in your mind...

      ...which is... See reply above

Yvonne, I agree with you on "unexplained cases.." being "dismissed. .." I saw my primary yesterday so she can refer me to someone else but was irritable bc I keep seeing her after ENTS keep telling me it's acid reflux when it's not. My gastro ruled that out & he is on vacation so I saw her but I'm waiting from my dentist to refer me to a periodontist. I have a interview this week & trying to get rid of the BB by then. I don't know what else needs to be done

Hi Chris, This condition is an extremely difficult one to deal with, on rear occasions when I am feeling utterly helpless I will tell anyone I have to interact with that I have a problem that causes chronic bb, but I find I also spend a great deal of my time explaining myself and asking not to be judged wrongly. I have found that when I have frequent bowel movements it helps a great deal, but I am not always able to sustain that. I don't know what more I can do or say to add to what has already been said, so I wish you well in your endeavours to find a lasting solution to what is truely a nightmare condition to live with.

Enzyme helps me with a regular bowel movement. You should try it

MJ, I'm using that for the months suggested by my nutritionist.

Yvonne, you have voiced everything about this condition & glad that we can interact this way bc daily we all have stressed in life but connecting thru this brings many of us hope.

I always say that physicians have a huge role on patients but it really is up to us to not give up when the answers are not there. In some cases there may be quick fixes but I we all find the root of the problem. To have relief & live completely happy again.

I wonder if a total Vegan Diet would help?  Or how many of us have Tonsils and could it be the pockets in our throats we've devolped over the years.. bacteria getting caught.. i never seen anything in my throat.. ever.. then one day on a road trip, i choked on something.. felt like a little rock.. i was able to spit it out and it was hard and white.. i thought what did i eat..was it stuck in my tooth.. then i smelled it to see if I could detect from what food it came from and it smelled like crap!  As we got to our destination a day later my sister inlaws daughter tells us how he breath stunk so bad from throat infection then she kept getting these white Chunks in the back of her throat..  finally had her tonsils out.. at 20 years of age that's rough to do... she said it was the worst pain she ever had... I asked a nurse about this and she said thier is so much blood vessels in the throat it becomes dangerous as we age..  BUt when i put my finger and press sometimes gunk comes out of those little pockets.. I asked my neighbor and they said they too get it.. :-(   so if it's this common WHY WHY WHY are we singled out . as the person who doesn't brush their teeth, or floss.. it hurts I know this. but we can pray for a solution as we keep digging for help

Ela, I hear you. Last year I coughed up a cream color looked like rice but I squeeze ed & smelled bad. Since then, I never had this happened. I even had docs in

Ela, I don't have anything in my tonsils. For me, I don't have mucus do my tongue had oral thrush & throat is always dry. Since my gastro told me I dint have candida I've incorporated more in my meals. I never likedmilk but II now drink coconut milk instead of soy instead of almond.

It's a trial by bases. I'm still hesitant on sugar & will stay away.

I'm waiting to see a peridontist to check for abnormalities in the throat or scares from my anatomy, previous biopsy.

With all our inputs we help figure this out but I also understand that we may all have different causes for BB.
