I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

My son and I have tried that acne solutions and it didnt work on both of us. But I maybe wrong as everyone has different BB issues.

In fact it made both of us sick. Now I dont know if its from using this acne solutions or something else. But Im pretty sure my son and are sick after using acne solutions.

Yeah, using acne medicine for oral rinse seems a bit extreme and unsafe. So you and your son both suffer from bb?

Maybe it is genetic. I posted a good article just a minute ago, but it has to be "moderated". I guess some people just have good bacteria in their mouths more than others like us.

It is genetic. All my family have BB except for one brother. He is so lucky, got married and everything. The rest are all loners like me 👿

I absolutely agree its genetic.  My mum,  my sister, my daughter and my niece all have it.   We all get a coating on the tongue which is one of the place I believe bad breath comes from.  One of my daughters and one of my nieces has no problem at all.  Pink tongues and sweet breath!

My mom told me dad used to have bb until all his teeth were pulled due to severe periodontal disease. I have my teeth examined by a periodontist last week and found that I too have moderate to severe gum disease. I am scheduled to get some cleaning below the gum lines and possible gum surgery down the road. Hopefully gum disease is my only problem.

Is there any obvious signs of your gum disease? Like bleeding gums, red gums, receding gums etc?

For me bleeding gums in my early 20s. Then gaps between the teeth to follow. I think mine started with poor dental hygiene and lack of dental checkups during my teens years

I learned that once you have gum disease, brushing, flossing, and regular dentist visits are little help because the bacteria is mainly below the gum line where even regular dental hygienist can't get to.

I had tonsil stones (white smelly balls) since 18 years of age (now 45). Few years back, I found from certain sources that one of the reasons for the tonsil stones could be lactose intolerance (milk indigestion). I stopped consuming milk and all milk products for around 2 weeks and there was no tonsil stones newly developing after that. So, if you have a chronic build up of tonsil stones, try to clear the existing tonsil stones and stop milk and milk products for a few weeks and see whether any more stones are being developed. This can at least fix one of the reasons for smelly breath. Most of the doctors would recommend surgical removal of tonsils as a cure for tonsil stones while removing diary can quite often eliminiate it completely.

Hi bijusam. I am going to try the dairy elimination.  I have skimmed milk in my morning smoothie and I do eat a LOT of cheese.  I notice when I eat stronger cheddar that my sinuses start to react within a few minutes.  It also leaves my saliva all gloopy and I then have a funny taste in my mouth.   I've had tonsil stones since I was 14 and I am now in my 40's.  I've tried all the products though, it seems to clear my tongue, the tonsil stones are still there.  I guess I just need to look at my diet and start trying to prevent them the natural way.  Thanks for this.

All the best. Try to clear the existing stones from your tonsils using certain dental tools. As I have mentioned, after 2 or 3 weeks of complete diary elimination, if new tonsil stones are not seen, then the problem at least on the tonsil stone front is fixed. You should have this zero-diary diet for the rest of your life or if you really feel for some diary products at times, take lactase enzyme capsules before consuming it.

I also heard from my source that glutten intolerance could also be another culprit behind tonsil stones. But in my case with diary elimination, tonsil stones never came back. Its almost 6 years now.

Thats great advice.  What tools did you use?

In my case, tonsils stones used to get out when I clear the throat harshly while brushing. Hence, I didnt have to use any devices. I also used hydrogen peroxide diluted with equal portion of water. Gargle with it and hold it in the throat area for sometime.

I heard many people suggesting waterpik as a way to flush out the stones. Also, some people clear it with a spoon. You can get a lot of these clearing methods on youtube while very talks about the real cause.

I meant "very few talk about the real cause".

Funnily enough I have just been reading about Waterpiks.  Problem is my stones are deep in the tonsils and I need a suction device.  I've heard of hydrogen peroxide before but not tried it.  I use Profresh mouth wash which has chlorine dioxide in it.  Not sure whether the chemicals achieve the same thing.   Maybe I will have to invent my own tonsil stone tool remover!

By any chance, if diary is the culprit for your tonsil stone, at least you will begin to prevent fresh stone build-up once diary consumption is stopped. Then its a bit more possible for the body to throw out the exisitng ones also over sometime. May be some of the gargles (Hydrogen Peroxide or the one which u have mentioned) might help further in probably dissolving it.

I am doing a detox this weekend and have been cutting down on dairy this week.  I am a cheese freak so am going to find it hard!  I need to rid myself of these dreadful stones though.  I have a sore throat today from poking my tonsil so I will try the diet and mouth wash method.
