Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

Hey. Thought id join the discussion if it is still on going. Im 29 (just) been suffering with BB since my early teens. Ive been to a few doctors over the years. The first didnt test me but put me on the nexium for h pylori. It seemed to work for the couple of weeks that i took it. Woke up with a freah mouth. It felt amazing. However when i kissed my boyfriend and spoke directly into his face he told me my breath smelled.

As soon as i finished taking the nexium the bb and foul taste returned.

Ive also been given oral thrush drops...did nothing.

Ive tried eliminating dairy from my diet which made no difference.

Ive tried to cut out gluten

    Tried chlorophyll juice

    Oil pulling with coconut oil

    Inner health plus tabs

Fresh yoghurt with all the good stuff

And i also tried charcoal tablets but stopped them due to the fact i heard they can stop the affect of other tablets and i take anti anxiety drugs. (Only been taking them for the past year therefor i dont believe they have anythingo to do with the bb as some people might suggest)

I was interested to know when everyone started experiencing bb. I feel that it is common for alot of people to first have bb in early teens.

    Anyone else the same?

I believe mine first started as a fishy smell but now it is definitely fecal breath.

Doctors i have seen have denied there being any smell however my partner and family have made comments and well as others.

I also have a white coating on my tongue which i have used a scraper on however it simply got rid of the white but not the smell. Ice used peroxide and baking soda which works for a day or two and stops the white tongue.

Im worried that i will suffer this for the rest of my life and the thought of that destroys me a little each day. Im at my wits end.

Hi a9, Don't feel alone. I'm going thru the same for two years. For me, i when I was living in a moldy room & the BB after I was intimate w my partner at the time.

how did they discover the h plori? Have you seen a GI?

Docs also don't smell it at first. My allergist & GI smelled it & said it smells like sulfur.

Last year, I remember it smelled like fish. This year like poo. One ENT diagnosed me w gerd/acid reflux when he smelled my mouth last year. I took the meds but didn't work. This year, GI tested me for silent reflux. I don't have it & told me to stop the reflux med. I have a tiny hernia & recently tested my stool & found e coli.

I've spent all my money on this & desperate to work but this condition makes things harder to even wait in line at a store or walk around in public bc of ppl noticing & giving me dirty looks.

I also tried everything u drank. Aloe juice helps but not all day on the odor.

do you know if you have gerd, hernia?

Your situation and the stuff you've been trying sounds identical to my situation.

I feel like mine started when my financial and personal life changed dramatically and I was chronically stressed, which lead to emotional stress and then that lead to anxiety. After a couple of years of feeling this every hour of the day, I think it reeked havoc on my digestive system. I feel it's my digestive system because I started to have food allergies out of nowhere, persistent oral thrush/white coated tongue, dry mouth, excessive gas after I eat. I tried everything you have, plus some. I went pretty much vegan and eliminating sugars in hopes to repair my gut, but no help! I was taking probiotics, digestive enzymes, flax seed, l-glutamine, mega dose of vitamin C, drinking only water and herbal tea, taking ACV, brushing with baking soda and still no positive results and still have oral thrush. I still have stress, so thinking I need to eliminate that, stress can do some crazy things to your body.

Hi Robert, the best thing is to see a doctor. Some that started on this blog discovered it was their teeth. And the rest of us still have this condition.

I post all details to save ppl from wasted time and money.

I'm on a intestinal med by my GI. I'm told I have IBS constipation. GI wants me on this for a month.

I just want this odor gone so I can work anywhere. Thus condition is to obvious & can't wait to stop breathing this out.

BTW check to see if you have pockets between your gums. A peridontist can scan your entire top & bottom teeth.

Robert, I meant to answer you. you should try the neti poti. I stopped bcuz I get water in my ears so I buy saline nasal spray. It shots up ur nose n down the throat. Spit out & gargle w warm baking soda it grabs all the mucus/bacteria. I try to not to overdo anything I do bc the body gets used to it.

I understand your pain!  I, too, am experiencing this awful dilemna.   I have done a little research on this subject--here is what I have found...."Halitosis is typically caused by poor dental hygiene.  However, other factors may be involved, including gum disease, tooth decay, heavy metal buildup, infection of the repiratory tract, improper diet, constipation, smoking, fever, diabetes, foreign bacteria in the mouth, indigestion, inadequate protein digestion, liver or kidney malfunction, postnasal drip, STRESS and too much unfriendly bacteria in the colon.  It can also be caused by a buildup of toxins in the gastrointestinal tract, salivary gland disorders, chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, or diabetes.  Dieting, alcohol abuse, or fasting can cause bad breath as well.  Dieters and people who are fasting may also experience bad breath due to metabolic wastes that give off an unpleasant odor as they are exhaled from the lungs."  Having said all that, these are some of the things that I am presently trying and obtaining good results.  1)  Heavy metal cleansing kit for 30 days   2) Digestive Enzymes taken each meal to help with digestion of protein, fat, and carbohydrates    3) Brushing teeth and TONGUE after EVERY meal plus using a tooth pick brush to eliminate foods in between teeth after each meal   4) Eating a smaller portion of food but more frequently  5) Scraping my tongue 2 x per day  6)  Drinking more water of which some of it is with lemon juice 2-3 x/day  7) Dental flossing every day   8) Rinsing my toothbrushes in peroxide to ensure no bacteria is present  9) Eating more fibrous food to eliminate waste (eating porridge with psyllium is great).  Taking a natural fibre supplement  10)  Eating lots of raw vegetables as part of the cleanse.  (Proper diet and exercise have been proven to be helpful aids in keeping bowels moving!)

Other recommendations according to the research I did are....

    1)  Bulk Cleanse

    2) Chlorophyll 2 x/day (can also be used as a mouth rinse)  Parsley has natural Chlorophyll

    3)  Vitamin C

    4)  Acidophilus to replenish friendly bacteria

    5)  Garlic - 2 capsules 4 times daily (this acts as a natural antibiotic destroying foreign bacteria in mouth and colon.  USE ODORLESS FORM)

    6)  Avoid spicy foods or strong flavored foods such as anchovies, blue cheese, onions, garlic, pastrami,  etc.

    7)  Avoid sticky or stringy foods that get stuck between teeth

    8)  Use chlorophyll mouthwash daily (do not use commercial mouthwashes as they may kill the bacteria temporarily but soon return in greater force.)

    9)  Avoid beer, coffee, whiskey, and wine which leave residues that stick to the soft, sticky plaque on teeth and get into the digestive system causing odor to be released when exhaling.

If these suggestions do not improve your conditiion, it may be a sign of an underlying health problem.....consult with your doctor.

    Don't give up!

      Thanks for the information!

As though I've been to the dentist a dozen times only for him to tell me that my teeth and gums are fine.

However, I do have silent acid reflux and I take med's every day for them. A small hernia and I've been tested for H plori, I don't have it.

I do have a lot of sinus issues which I will be seeing the doctor about soon. I assume I have post nasal drip because of morning mucus and during the day mucus. I also feel like my nasal canal that leads to the back my throat is always dry.

Hi Angel, I have everything. I only get nasal drip if I eat cheese which I never do.

I was tested for silent reflux & don't have.

How did they test you for it?

I was told by my docs toI'm thankful fur that but i will seen stop effecting I'm taking bc I'm waiting fir other stomach tests.

IIrecommend that place continue to see there docs. In my case I kept getting docs that didn't believe my Bb bc they didn't smellit. I've four docs that smell it & looking into this.more.
