I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

I have suffered my whole life with the condition. Persuaded my consultant to remove my tonsils as I suffered from tonsillitis a lot. I had read on forums about tonsil stones and convinced myself this must be the cause of my bb. I had never seen a tonsil stone but thought this was the answer to my problems.
Anyway has the op at 32 years of age and if anything I think the bb got worse (if that is even possible). I've given up now! Becoming more anti social by the day. Even my toddler is talking about poo when I am close to him.
So please don't think that removing tonsils is the answer. It certainly wasn't for me.

KJJ- I'm not too much of a religious person myself but I have suffered so long to know that I cannot be ignorant, i need to be open minded and explore all possibilities, yes even religious.
tliz- I am seing a psychologist and a year ago she diagnosed me stress&anxiety and I reacted well to her therapy, i recently visited her and after very long discussion, we mutually came to a realisation that the stress&anxiety or even depression will always haunt me as long as I still have the underlying cause of it which is the bad breath, she told me that I need to find the cure for BB otherwise all she can do is help me learn how to cope living with it (I'm sorry but I can't live with it). About quitting my job- it's funny I used to think people were crazy for quiting a job over BB- this was 3 years after being aware of my BB and 7 years down the line I am apologising to those people, it's hard! especially if you are a member of the board and have to confidently make million bucks decisions, attend meetings, conferences and the worst- business networking! If I were to tell you my story you'd break into tears so Im not going to start.
mj88283- I'v had a good specialist Gastroanterologist with whom I did a number of endoscopies with biopsies, colonoscopy and barium swallow and after spending a lot of money he honestly told me if my chief complaint is BB I must stop seing him because there is nothing wrong with me that relates BB with his field of expertise and I believe him!
ria19343- Thanks, I too use nasal aspirators even though I had my tonsils and adenoids removed in addition I also perform stage 2 Nasal irrigation but obviously It doesn't cure.
Chris03274- I removed mine but bad breath recurred.

Hearing your story just makes me realise that there is no cure. I think that we are just unfortunate to have a certain level of bad bacteria in our mouths and nothing will change it. I've had this my whole life so can't ever see it going away.
I live in hope.

I found a page to a website which talks about how bad breath affects people socially and in work but I can't put a link here as this forum won't allow it. Let's all keep eachother posted about these issues and in the meantime I will work on a solution to these strict forum rules. Brandon are you in the world? UK?

Do you have acid reflux? Have you ever tried a PPI like Prilosec? I too had a GI doc and had an endoscopy, etc. and was told I was fine. But my dentist started noticing yellowing on the left, outer (like against your cheek) side of my teeth. He said that is classic acid reflux and told me to start Prilosec. I guess the endoscopy was done on a day that my reflux wasnt active. Ever since taking Prilosec, I have better breath. My teeth are no longer sensitive, etc. Prilosec is OTC and quite honestly I would give it a try if I were you.. if it has destroyed your life THIS much, maybe just maybe this would be your answer. Try it for a week, you would be able to see the difference within that week if its the issue.
For two, and this is a very tough one, would you be willing to eat a mostly vegan diet? Would you be willing to completely overhaul your diet so that you are eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, etc. And cutting out most dairy and meats? I am not a vegan or vegetarian by definition, but the majority of my diet is fruits and veggies, basmati rice (its healthier). I make a lot of stirfry type meals, taco salad, singaporean rice, etc. And the main type of meat I eat is just chicken breast, and I noticed beef is really hard to digest and gives me BB too. I also noticed that artificial sweeteners make my BB really bad. A diet coke is like a recipe for BB. Then one of the things that people reach for when they have BB seems to make things worse- those starlight mints- omg even if I didnt have BB those stupid things make me have BB. Idk why.. anyone else? Some other ideas- do you drink a lot of water during the day? A dry mouth is a recipe for BB. I have a habit of drinking water with lemon, and I drink that all the time. I keep sliced lemon in my fridge all the time. I do not like plain water. And those little drops to add to water have artificial sweeteners which again, seem to make BB. Even if youre not a big water drinker, I mean what do you have to lose, give it a try. 8- 8 oz glasses of water per day. There is an app you can download to track how much water you drink and it reminds you to drink water during the day. My friend uses it and loves it. Shes a nurse so she is busy and it helps remind her.
Then something that you should be doing is taking probiotics..not just any probiotics- you need a very good quality probiotic. You probably already know about them but a quick rundown on it- they are the good bacteria that your body needs, and they will keep the bad bacteria in check. The good probiotics are refrigerated and you want the bacteria to be in the billions. An employee should be able to help you find the best one. Just get in a habit of taking those. And I will warn you, you will have bacteria die off as the good bacteria flush out the bad bacteria. I had an upset stomach for a week or so but that subsided and then I felt good. Now admittedly, I do not take the best of the best probiotics anymore. They are pricey but with a problem like yours I would definitely go for the best. The one I take has S. BOULLARDII in the mix, which is a good probiotic for healing the gut. I had cancer so my GI tract was pretty messed up and the S Boullardii helped me heal.
Then one last thought- you mention youve got stress and anxiety and I get that but do you know that alone could cause more BB?? I am not sure of the exact cause but I think it could be that stress causes acid reflux type reactions. I mean I have GERD (reflux) so my symptoms are more obvious but when under a lot of stress, a lot of times my voice gets raspy because of the reflux acting up. Along with the raspy voice, BB shortly follows.
Well I know I have given a ton of random advice here but these are just things I have personally noticed and done over the years, and maybe they could help someone else. I am a little bit of a health nut ever since having cancer so my diet is very clean, much more than the usual person and I know it would be hard for many of you to follow these strict ideas. But keep in mind that you dont have to go all out on these ideas- if you just make changes that are more healthy, like less dairy, less meat.. or maybe just eat meat 2X a week, or keep dairy really limited but allow yourself a bowl of ice cream twice a week, etc.. YOU make the rules. But these changes really will help. I feel pretty confident that the diet change would help anyone. And how do I say... when you eat clean, your WHOLE body will be clean too. This is sort of a gross topic but even BMs will not smell bad. Your significant other will also be happy because alllll of your body will be refreshed.. ahem..
Anyways, best wishes, I hope this helps someone!

Try not to eat foods that trigger your bad breath. I usually get a temporary relief by doing that.

All is not lost I'm married 3 years now, met my husband 5 years ago. I know it's hard but you shouldn't give up. I used to sneak off to toilets with mouthwash on our dates. Constantly eat gum or chew vit c tablets. I always sleep facing away from him too. He has a really poor sense of smell as he says he doesn't notice. So he is perfect for me.
Just wondering how that would go down on a dating site! "Looking for a man with PSOS". 😂😂😂.
The weird thing is I hate it when I smell somebody's bad breath. My boss has horrible breath but I can tell it's because she doesn't floss. It's a distinctive smell that some people have. Easily cured by good dental hygiene. I wish that's what I had!
