Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

I found this guy on YouTube Mark Mcnealy. He suffered from Halitosis but, was able to cure his. He posted some really helpful videos online. If you still haven't found a cure. Look this guy up on YouTube. He's the real deal.

Hi, thanks for the tip about McNealy. I've already started using his recommended tips. I'm using the sea salt and baking powder. Have you tried any of his ideas?

Someone asked if you can have your tonsils removed after 18; yes you can. I had my tonsils removed at 56. I have chronic bad breath and thought tonsil stones was the cause since my dentist said I didn't have any dental problems. That didn't help at all. I think it's sinuses (have this glob feeling in the back of my throat like a ball of mucus) or gastro but I don't have acid reflux.

I have always wanted my tonsils removed as they are full of stones and I've had bad breath since I was 14. So you are saying this didn't solve the problem? I too have bad sinuses, not all the time just some time.

mind you I researched for ages and spent heaps of time and money eliminating other causes. I even got an endoscopy done to find out if it was internal.

I know it's not genetic as my mom dip snuff, chew tobacco and hasn't been to a dentist in over 40 years. No one else in my family has this problem except me. They also eat anything they please.

I have been suffering with this disorder for several years. I am here to let you know how i was cured, and the adverse effects of the treatment. Our BB is caused by bacteria imbalance in our internal system. Bad bacteria is over powering the good ones. I have had 3steps that finally cured me. 1.) OMEPRAZOLE - i am 5feet flat 49kg. I am taking 20g twice a day. This will inhibit your reflux, balance the acidity in the GI track. Pls research more about GERD and which kind of antacid would be perfect for you. 2.) Gastrointestinal detox - I only did it once for the past 2 months. You can buy a pill or do home made remedies. This will take away toxins in the GI. 3.) Yakult - it is a kind of drink that contains probiotics. Its like a cultured bacteria (good bacteria). This is made exclusively for the stomach. I take this once every two days. In just 4days I was cured. I could not even believe it almost. However i have developed a severe sleeping disorder. The treatment deprived me of a good sleep. One day I remember I was awake for almost 24hrs and I am still not sleepy. I can feel my body is tired but i dont feel sleepy at all. I wish you all good luck. Please let me know if this treatment worked for you.

I am always a tad suspicious when somebody states that they have 'cured' BB, partly because I wonder how they know and also, because I am not convinced that the issue many on this list suffer from, is curable! Of course, there are many causes and perhaps you are in the lucky minority. If so, I am genuinely thrilled for you.
I've been taking Yakult, Actimel and probiotic natural yoghurt regularly, all to no avail. Cheap to try though and likely to bring other benefits, so why not!
Omeprazol is a treatment, coincidentally, for Helicobacter Pylori that is certainly a cause of BB. If you are now 'cured', perhaps it was this bug that was floating around in your system; can get into your system through polluted water and remain for decades. Coincidentally, a family member had it and it took years to diagnose. They didn't suffer BB though, but did have cramps and severe fatigue.
A sympathetic doctor prescribed a course of this drug for me, but again it didn't work. I was also tested for HP, but it was not found.
Omeprazol is mainly only available on prescription and certainly needs careful management from a trained professional, if taken long-term.
Acid reflux is an interesting one and in part, can be controlled with over-the-counter medications that are readily available from the supermarkets. I do often get indigestion and have tried this path, but my issue is that I have no feedback on what may or may not be working; another curse of BB.
As an aside, if you offered me the choice of a winning lottery ticket, or a cure for the above, then I would take the latter every time. I suspect everybody else on this list would say the same thing! :-(

Hi - I had this BB for years on and off. I have GERD/Reflux and have done so for many years. My BB has disappeared - well I can't taste it or smell it and neither can hubs coz he would say. I got thinking about the bad bacteria and realised I did not have enough good as did not take probiotics. Since I have started with probiotic yogs (although there are not too many in this) and also Yakult daily and now Kefir - no smelly BB and my stomach pain from the GERD has gone. I have been taking Ranitidine 150 x 2 daily as per my doc after endo confirmed GERD/HH/Esoph last year - but nothing has really helped since this new idea of really getting good bacteria into me. I know lots of peeps don't think this BB is stomach related but in my case it defo is. The Kefir is expensive but worth it, but I now know you can make it yourself - so I will have a go.

Yes I would agree. This problem has plagued me all my life. I've just read another post which says removing the tonsils doesn't help. I have tonsil stones and was hoping that removing them would solve the problem. I do use some great products and gadgets but the minute I stop, the problem comes back.
I agree, I don't think anyone is ever cured sadly. Just some of us are more prone to it than others.

You could try a Periodontist if you have gum problems, bu this is something any dentist should recommend if there are issues present.
