Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

I have very sensitive gums. I constantly hurt them with a regular toothbrush. Because of this, it smells bad from the mouth. For many years this was my big problem. I have a blogger read about oral irrigator and it was my salvation. Perhaps this will help you too. The irrigator cleans very well, better than a toothbrush and dental floss. Does not injure the gums. Here you can read more https://geeklah.com/best-water-flosser.html

I wanted to ask everyone if we may share the same issues to pin down what is the cause of all of this. I notice that sometimes I get a bad taste on my top gums like around the back of my teeth like a salty weird taste. Does that happen to anyone else? Also I noticed when I use a waterpik the smell comes out more but im not sure if its from my gums or my throat/stomach.

    Hi everyone,

I literally read all 92 pages of this post and found this to be, by far, one of the most beneficial forums regarding BB. I'm glad that some of you were able to find cures.

I read that a few of you had a fishy smell before it turned into fecal odor. This is exactly what happened to me.

When I was 16 I realized this faint fishy odor lingering around me. I went home and showered but the smell was still there. I believe it was coming from my mouth and nose. I later developed a really bad yeast infection down there that smelled like garbage, soy sauce, and would vary. My older sister started to realize my breath smelling like metal and would later complain about my breath on a daily basis. What smelled like metal turned into poop, morning breath, rat, broccoli, you name it. It really took a toll on me emotionally and physically, but you all know how that is so I won't make this into a depressing post.

I went to a few doctors about this. Mouth is fine, got tested for H Pylori, that came out fine, went to an ENT, prescribed me with antibiotics but I never took them since he said he didnt see anything wrong and just prescribed me that to make me feel better. Later down the road, I started to eat better and work out. My yeast infection went away, I believe from taking probiotics on the regular. My bf often compliments me on my smell down there, but i do realize that if I dont take probiotics regularly I can smell yeasty down there when using the restroom.

Back to my breath, it has calmed down since my teenage years, I'm 23 now, but its not completely gone and often gets bad when I'm stressed out. Besides being paranoid when talking to people, it hasnt really bothered me until my bf mentioned that I have a "quarter" smell coming from my nose, aka metal. I sort of shrugged it off since I've always suffered with BB and thought I'd brush my teeth and pop sugar free gum (as always although a smell is always there). He commented on it again and I just broke down because I felt like my past was coming back to haunt me. He said he loves me regardless and we all have issues going on with ourselves. I love him for being so mature about it but I'm sick of it and started looking for answers again.

What is weird is that he says its smells like quarters but when I stick my finger in my mouth after its been closed for a while and smell it, it smells like feces. Two weeks ago I noticed a green-like coat on my tongue when I lit a flashlight on it. I took zinc and it cleared it up but not the breath. My breath often smells like the poop I pass, and is constantly changing with my diet. I believe its bacteria in my stomach. Its just confusing to me. When I backtrack and try to remember what might have triggered this at 16 was fish I ate two days prior to it happening, kissing my new date, or a yeast infection. Breath is awful with sugar. I really want to find a cure for this, for myself amongst everything. Has anyone suffered from a similar situation. I have an appt. with a different ENT, if that doesnt help, going to a GI again. I feel like it may be yeast related too. Just confused

Also, my tongue is pink and healthy looking. I'm almost certain its not coming from my mouth. I get tonsil stones but after I pop them smell is still there.

I strongly believe you are firmly correct about bacteria biome combination in our gut/throat/mouth/sinus... this is why i have kind of given up. the medical field is advancing very fast in this area, however it will probably be decades before a treatment for us is available. there is almost no other explanation as to how my dad can have the sweetest smelling breath even with much worse dental issues than me. ITS A LACK OF A COMBINATION OF BENEFICIAL BACTERIA AND/OR A COMBINATION OF MALICIOUS BACTERIA THAT AILS US... what this magical recipe of a balance of biome is in it- is the question. it seems as simple as testing my fathers saliva to see the difference in my own... but i lack the equipment and the formal education in identifying specific bacteria. a treatment that highly interested me was fecal transplants- sounds disgusting to 99.99% of all people. But if you truly suffer as i do, this might sound like it would be worth researching.

My latest routine involves sinus irrigation with "alkolol" thats not a typo... tongue scraping, electric toothbrush, and homemade mouthwash with 2/3 drops of tea tree oil and salt water.... but i'm still not confident to speak one on one with girls.... ugh - cursed we are....

      Hi Jason,

Thank you for sharing. I won't say we're cursed. I believe we all may be experiencing something different and the BB is just a symptom of something underlying. I have hope despite how long its been. ACV has been helping me a bit.

      Hi Rachel,

Thanks for sharing. I've been using ACV and cleaning my tonsils with a q tip every night and this has helped! I'm scheduled to see an ENT on monday and will list out all other symptoms I can think off. I wonder if pink eye is related to any sinus issues... I experience them often.

l agree as l have had BB as far as l can remember , l have tried everything as well as antibiotics but l have recently realized that baking soda and hydrogen peroxide works l only use it on my tongue with oral B tongue scrapper cleaner and l have realized my mouth is cleaner and l have been using close friends to see their reaction when l speak to them before and now. l think not as shy to talk in ones face as before.

      Hi Silvia,

I take two tablespoons in the morning and two at night. I also flush my sinuses every night and take vitamin.
