Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

not really, my sinuses don't drain the mucus accumulates and once a day i have to clear them. I don't know if it's because I have a deviated septum or what but when i use the rinse they drain but not where they're suppose to so i spit about a hundred times before they're clear. get up the next day and same thing. one of the other guests suggested getting a Lip Trainer which is helping to redirect where they drain but i don't think it will solve my problem. i spoke to a surgeon last week and am considering surgery to fix the septum but at a cost of $10,000.00 (canadian) i'll think long and hard about that one. tried going through the health care system but i've waited over a year just to see someone. it's ridiculous! it's a health system not a health care system cause they couldn't care less.

hi Aces, i have become less of a mouth breather so i am thankful for that. also the snoring has much improved. i will give it the two months they suggest and we'll see where we are then.

you'll have to let me know how things go after a while. i am a little paranoid to have the surgery. i know there can be various complications.

M..I am so sorry to hear about your dilema. I know I am really late to your discussion. But I was just wonderfing if anything has worked out for you. These past two years I started to have the same problem. But the thing is that no one will tell me!!!! I wish some one would be honest with me and say something. I literally asked the whole world but they always say I don't have bad breath but their body language says different. I do struggle sometimes because it makes me feel so self conscious and not want to participate in conversations anymore.

      Hi Paulette,

I had tried writing to you, but it was spontaneously deleted… Please see my earlier post. I share your despair that no one was honest with you. I think my faecal breath contributed to the breakdown of my marriage because my husband was convinced that it was due to poor oral hygiene, but would talk about other people with bad breath and when I asked him if I had bad breath he always said no, then would rub his nose profusely when I am around him. I think he didn’t want to be honest with me because he didn’t want to share the responsibility of having to try and help me to find the cause and cure, no one cared enough to help Hope you are able to find out the root cause of your problem. I have and I feel so blessed, it is one less thing to worry about…

    Hello to everyone,

I have not written for a while as I am very busy - started a new job last month...

Anyway, just wanted to say I think I have at last found out what was causing my bad breath. In my case it was constipation. I know that because I started to drink 1.5 litres of water daily and take a laxative and not constipated as before and the gesture of vigorously rubbing noses and standing back and occasionally asking what is that smell as completely stopped. Although I will continue to drink a lot more water, taking laxative is not a long term solution, so I intend to start using the probiotics Aces recommended and sort out my diet by reducing the amount to sugar and increase fibre. I am already doing much of this, but have not started to use the probiotics to sort of the gut imbalance that is a contributing factor. Another individual who stated that she was from the UK also provided some useful info, I have forgotten your guest name, but I also found your info useful – thank you! I was also diagnosed with H-pylori which may have also contributed to the 'poo' smell a word used by the children I work with... I know how it feels to suffer from this condition and believe that I may have had it for more than 20 years and like others have said, even family members find it difficult to be honest with you, maybe for fear of been ask to monitor you... Must go now! Just felt I had to write this in the hope that it may help someone who is currently experiencing the nightmare of faecal breath.

     Best wishes to you all.

hi yvonne, laxatives should be a very short term solution you should try a natural fibre like Metamucil. after being constipated for years someone finally told me to try it. i always associated it with old people. because of the constipation i eventually developed a number of hemorrhoids and for that reason metamucil bacame the solution for both. one teaspoon a day in a glass of water is all that's needed. has made life sooooooooooo much easier don't even think about it anymore. give it a try.

Hello Paulette, I have the same problem as well, for the past three years I notice a stinking smell coming from my nose and mouth, I went to several doctors including specialist to no avail.  I even ask family and friends if my breath smells bad and no one is admitting to me that it does, however, their reaction says different.  Sometime I feel like withdrawing from everyone, I get embarrass when there is a discussion with someone or a group and I am participating and you could see the reaction.  I don’t know what to do. Sometime I feel like I just don’t want to be here anymore due to this stench coming from me.  I was talking to my mom about this and she mentioned this disease call Catarrh, I research it on the internet and basically it has to do with your ENT and if not treated it smells extremely stink.  I called several medical facilities and no one has ever heard of this disease there is a doctor on the internet who said he has treated this problem with 100% guarantee, but I cannot get in touch with him. If you find out what is causing this problem please share with me.  I feel like if I don’t get a response soon I will do something crazy.  Catarrh is inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose and throat per Google’s information.

      Hi Roma,

I want you to privately e-mail Acesup, he is on this post. He gave out alot of information that will help you. I know Acesup gave me personal help. I just recently started. What I can tell you that when you talk to him that you tell him every thing that is going on with you. I have Gerd, post nasil drip, i used to have hpylori caused by the gerd, and white coating on my tongue. He gave me suggestions that I feel will work. I started some of them and I am noticing a difference in my body. Im not sure about the bad breath its only been two days so when you begin make sure that you stay on it for a while and don't expect something to dramatically change. Things take time. I fully understand what you mean about not wanting to live anymore. I have been there, just keep fighting roma. Something has to change! Now that you know that the doctors have ruled those areas maybe you can look at other things that you wouldn't think would be a problem. I have heard of people having candida, that is bacteria over load in your intestines. You would have to get on a better diet and take probiotics daily. I am not saying this is what is causing the problem but just make a list of everything that was ruled out. On another list describe your symptoms if you have any and that should help you some. But get in contact with Acesup on this site. I know I don't know you but I want to encourage you and hang in there..I am sending you some love!!!!! If you need someone to talk to get a hold of me here or you can connect with me on facebook, look for  paulett garcia-riverside california. I have long black hair and wear glasses. You take care :-)
