Breath smells like faeces (Poo)

Posted , 379 users are following.

I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

Has anyone here got tested for SIBO? What was the result?
    • Posted

I never have, but would like too. I feel that might be something I have and would explain some of my symptoms. Not sure if SIBO is like Leaky Gut, but most doctors don't know enough about the gut to diagnose yet. But they say the tongue is the orface to the gut and my tongue is always white coated and dry!

I have cut out dairy which has stopped my postnasal drip and I am TRYING to cut out sugar which I believe is causing my coated tongue. Problem is sugar is so addictive.  I crave it, which is a sign of candida.  Maybe you guys could try cutting back on sugar and see if this improves the tongue.  Most bad breath is caused by bacteria on the tongue.  I use Profresh mouthwash to get rid of the bad breath but I need to address whats causing it, not the symptom.  Then hopefully I won't have to buy mouthwashes anymore. I really wish doctors and dentists would take this issue seriously.  Neither are interested.

I don't eat dairy, meat, sugar, gluten or really anything with many ingredients. I eat just whole foods..I take digestive enzymes, probiotics, l-glutamine, ACV, and all I drink is water, herbal teas and as of recent I started drinking coffee, but with nothing added to it. I remember a time when I didn't have bb and I ate like crap, bunch of junk food.. So I'm confused..lol

Daniel, try electrolyte water. (Not Gatorade; bc of coloring)

i used to always drink plain, black coffee to help me go but even that work/ doesn't work at times. But I resumed recently too.

started doing different types of exercises it has helped. I just started this as well.

I did anticandida diet for months & tested recently & don't have.

      We will solve this.

      Daniel28749,

I found a Natural Medicine doctor that specializes in SIBO, I had the same symptoms and my test results showed a high level of SIBO. I've been put on supplements & the FodMap diet.

Find yourself a Natural Meds doc, and start your journey to healing.

You're right about regular docs they don't know much about the condition; take it from me....it took me 10yrs of numerous physician visits, two surgeries & countless medical procedures before I realized that it was up to me to figure out what was going on with my body.

      Good Luck in your journey!

Have you tried the medicated mouthwash peridex? I will talk to my dentist next week to see if I can get a prescription for it. It supposed to be a medical grade mouthwash for people with gingivitis. I would think it'll work for halitosis as well.

There has to be a common denominator between us all. I have three things about me that in my opinion can contribute to my bb, these are theories because all three also are in their infancy in research where not enough is known about them..so I'm screwed! Haha

    1. I have silver fillings ( contains mercury\ can contribute to leaky gut.)

    2. Appendix removed( no ones mentioned this in this forum, but the appendix was not known of its function til recently. It's a reserve of good bacteria.. Go figure!)

    3. I have chronic stress( this started after having a child I wasn't aware about and the financial and emotional stress from child support and barely seeing my kid has taking toll on me.)

    TRIPLE WAMMY!!!

I have not. Only stomach issues I've had is gas. But I've started getting rashes off and on, which I believe to be food allergies due to lack of digestion in my gut. Also they say the tongue is the orface of the gut and I can't tell you the last time was not white coated. It's usually only coated from halfway to the back of my tongue.

See if you can test for candida in the stool, blood, mouth.

I did an anticandida diet for months & finally tested & don't have it.

when I taken stronger probiotics, my tongue is not as white. I'm also doing other things already listed but recently picking up a consistent routine.

since you work w customers are their reactions just from you talking w them or when u breath out?

I've been tested for h pylori and it was negative. They did a stool, blood and urine test on me. I mentioned Candida, but the doctor looked at me like I was crazy..Candida overgrowth in the gut isn't something doctors know about, at least here anyways, plus I don't have options when it comes to doctors because of finance, I go to this community health clinic. All those Candida treatments we hear about are only theoretical anyways.

I'm not too sure if customers smell it when I talk, I get really paranoid and over analyze everything and to me they are reacting, but no one has ever said anything, but when I talk to customers there is a desk between us. The only ones that have said anything are friends and family and I've notice it's when I laugh, but one of those laughs that a lot of air comes out. I'm trying to get back into meditation to try and not stress so much, I feel my chronic stress was the cause of this in the first place.

Hi Daniel, I may repost bc it didn't go thru.

I'm detailed to help others to get straight to the source of this that makes it difficult to fix

I mentioned my allergest tested me For oral Candida bc he noticed the oral thrush & BB.

my GI smelled the BB and did tested my blood for fungal and I dont have. Stool test for parasites and other..

From all my tests I have a tiny hernia but not a reason for BB. GI SAID TO take fiber, probiotics, water, yogurt to have complete bowel movement otherwise things back up & that's the odor I BREATH OUT.

After months of healthy eating, I still have:

Feeling of something stuck in my throat but it occurs when I haven't eaten, lifting something heavy, walking fast, stress.

probiotics has helped oral thrush. I have moist mouth after I take them.

Bloating, incomplete bowel movement, can't pass gas, I breath out the odor anytime of the day. While I digest, after I eat.

I'm going to my Ent w my results bc my GI said I don't have a follow up w him.

I need to work and this odor has forbid me for have a regular walk outside. I still step out but my odor is detected from feet away and ppl look straight at me.

That's odd because I do have regular bowel movements, always have. And I do pass gas, maybe too often and I still breathe out the smell. I still do take fiber anyways just so I can have "better/complete" bowel movements. The only thing that makes sense to me is its bad bacteria in the mouth or it's a leaky gut. Look up leaky gut if you haven't heard of it. Theoretically, I shouldn't have bad breath because I do everything right, so for me personally that narrows it down. Thing is when it comes to our guts, a lot of it is still a medical mystery and there are lots of theories out there and most of it is just experimenting and guessing and that's why it's so tough to find a cure. I still yet after years heard of anyone saying they were cured from bb, unless it was a oral hygienic issue or bad tooth..negligence. I never use to have bb until I started stressing 24/7 and then that gave me anxiety and became a perpetual cycle I couldn't get out of and stress can reek havoc on the body and change your whole ecology, so now I'm just trying to get into meditation and calm myself down so my body can get back to healing instead of constant state of stress causing harm to my immune system.

I agree with you Daniel. I think we are dealing with a live bacteria in the mouth. I read about gut and bought all the recommended pills as suggested but it did not work.

Daniel, Thank you for your feed back. I have read on leaky gut. My BB started after I kissed my partner at the time. He had horrible BB & asked him. Told me he had acid reflux. All I know I was given antibiotics a month late & didn't help.

      let's get a solution soon.

Daniel, if possible check to get a CT Scan of your sinuses. I had it done last year and odor I breath out is not from there.

I need to add. I was living in a moldy room last year, when my IBS started then two months later the BB, minutes after I was with my partner.
