Breath smells like faeces (Poo)
Posted , 379 users are following.
I have this horrid poo smell from my mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day, floss, use Dentyl PH mouthwash, I have the best oral hygeine of anyone I know but I still have this smell. I am too embarrassed to even ask my flriends or family to tell me my breath stinks. I am becoming totally reclusive because of it. Id rather go to my GP and tell him ive got an STD. I know ive got it coz sometimes people look around and ask if ive farted, and I see people with babies smelling their nappies when I speak. It really is starting to badly affect my life but I just cant pluck up the courage ot go to my GP. How on earht can i ay \"DR, My breath smells like poo!\" Please, if anyone has any tips let me know.

Hi, I have the same problem.
About 2 hours before bed I drink metamucil.
I also drink heaps of water during the day.
At morning and night I brush my teeth for 40 minutes. This includes brushing my teeth and tounge and then scrapping my tounge. Then I gargle with warm salt water. I've tried taking inahealth plus tablets, cough medicine because I felt build up of stuff on my throat, breath pearl tablets, throat guard tablets (probiotics) and quickeaze tablets for acid reflux. My doctor had found nothing wrong with my breath and when I try to tell her I feel she doesn't listen to me or thinks I'm over reacting. Something is definitely wrong because when I talk to people they screw their face up like they are trying to hold their breath.

Hi, I suffered from bad breath for the longest time (many years, since childhood actually) and did everything possible from brushing, flossing using all possible oral hygiene products with very little respite. Unfortunately my dentist was not able to help me out either.
I had suffered to such an extent that i would avoid going out because i did not want to have to speak to people.
What I found which helped me overcome this issue was, bad breath from the mouth was originating from my tongue and using a tongue cleaner after meals helped keeping this odour free. But even after using a tongue cleaner i found that the odour would find its way back soon. It is after this that I visited a doctor who diagnosed me to have digestive issues largely linked to allergies from food items. A major source of this was dairy products. I was asked to give up gluten and dairy for a while in addition to other remedies prescribed to heal my digestion and not long after, I was free from this issue.
One of the things which I was prescribed in addition to the above was to gargle (not swallow) with olive oil for about 5 minutes every morning prior to brushing. This is supposed to absorb the toxins in your mouth that cause an odour. I have done this multiple times even at night or prior to going out at times and found it to be very useful. Of course, the important thing is to get to the root of the problem which in my case was digestion issues aggravated by allergen causing food items.
I am happy to share that i am free from bad breath now and feel like a new person!
What I have listed above is my personal experience and since I am not a health care professional I did this under the guidance of a doctor. Please contact your doctor for the best advise suited to your system! I just wanted to share my experience because I know what it is like to look for answers everywhere and end up helpless and hopeless again and if this post helps you even a bit, i'm glad!

It's been so long... I probably posted about this problem many years ago. It has been 16 years and nothing has improved. My problem is not bad breath, like it's around all or most of the time. My problem is a mouth fart that smells exactly like the worst rotten egg odor. And with covid mask wearing, lord it really gives me an idea of of how offensive it is. No wonder I see people jerking back when they are talking to me. When that happens, I know I just mouth farted. I don't always smell it but people's reactions and comments clue me in.
It all started in my 30s after I had horrible chest pain. I was going through a stressful period and I thought it was actual heartbreak but it was most likely esophageal spasm. Thereafter I started getting acid reflux and worst of all, this mouth fart malady. It has changed my life. I used to go after life but over the years I have just retreated. And just settled into a lonely life. I have friends, but while they grew in their careers and family life, I have just stood still. Afraid to get close to people, pursue jobs that put me in contact with people, etc. It's been 16 years, I don't know what to do anymore.
And yes, multiple doctors, supplements, home remedies, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, etc.

Brace yourself. This is long but totally worth the read. Wish I'd discovered this years ago...i know this is an old post, but for anyone new and struggling, I have had the same issue for 24 years. Chronic bad breath that smells like an open sewer, It completely destroyed my confidence and my life. I tried everything, my dentist didn't know the cause so went to the doctor and she found h pylori but even after the treatment for h pylori it didn't help. she said she didn't smell it and so did doctor no tonsil stones either. I know I wasn't paranoid far too many comments have been made over the years. With a couple of people.tellinb me straight. People would openly ask if someone had broke wind or ask if my baby had pooed. I was suicidal. I tried everything gargling saltwater, oil pulling, cb12 obvs brushing flossing, corsodyl mouthwash. I bought a halimeterthat tests for bad breath ( always told me I was a 5 which was very bad. I tried probiotics eating sauerkraut. I changed my diet, cut out coffee and drank plenty of water. all to no avail. Just recently like a few days ago I found a study online which was about parisititis and halitosis. I will try attach it once I explain. Basically they done a study on children who's parents reported chronic bad breath. Children were tested for worms and basically out the 28 kids with worms, after treatment called mebendazole ( worm treatment you get from docs.) 18 were cured of there chronic bad breath. and out of 50 odd kids without worms the worm treatment cured 15 odds chronic bad breath. Reading this was reassuring to me. I was ready to ret anything so I bought treatment ( sure I don't have worms but tried it as clearly I think its the mebendazole that helps) in the study the take 300mg for 3 days, but the treatment you get tells you too take 100mg once, and that's it. But I've taken 200mg 2 days in a row and it seems I'm cured. I've been asking my mum constantly ( who's brutally honest) since I took it to smell my breath and now it just doesn't smell of anything. had to share this as a gigantic weight has been lifted off my shoulders. just wonder why more research hasn't been done into this, as this is an isolating, depressing, chronic condition that ruins people lives. pls let me know if you get this and it helps. oh the treatment I got is called ovex. I even got it on the minor ailments. a relief something helps me at long last. May it continue 🙏

Hi i had the same problem for 23 years . i know exactly how bad it is to be in that situation. i promised myself once i find the cure for myself, ill spread the word. And for a month now, i finally found the answer to my problem. I tried them all but none of them really worked because im just masking the issue. first i had my dentist check any unhealthy signs in my mouth thats casuing it - nothing. Second, i went to see and ENT and told them about my halitosis and he said i have gerd, sinusitis, and post nasal drip. He prescribed me with nasal sprays and that seem to help but i also found out about dental probiotics . you can buy any brand on amazon. it worked but when i eat again, its still not as normal as i used to be. i was told i have to keep on brushing my teeth every single time i eat which is still not the solution i was looking for. then years later i just decided to live healthier. i started working out and cutting sugar on my diet. then i found the culprit. my bad breath was definitely coming from my stomach and it was the CHOCOLATES! Chocolate is considered acidic and that was the cause of my GERD and post nasal drip etc . since ive stopped eating any forms of chocolate candy, ice cream or cake it went away after a week! so i suggest getting checked first, eliminating the possible root cause and eat better. bacteria thrive on sugar. and keep a diary of what youve been eating if your issue is coming from your stomach. also, dental probiotics help keep it fresh. get it from amazon. good luck ! dont lose hope. do your research and eat healthy. see specialists. they can lead you into finding a permanent solution. all the best! 😃

Hi, Bad breath is mostly caused by lack of oral hygiene, it can also be because of digestive issues. Please consult and check with your doctor.

Please take a oral probiotic morning and before bed. Don't eat or drink anything for an half hour when doing in morning. The longer you don't eat/drink the better the probiotic has time to over power the bad germs and get your mouth back in balance to no smelly bb.
