Breathe Easy Groups

Posted , 4 users are following.

I attended my first Breathe Easy group meeting on Thursday, but unfortunately discovered that it's still in the 'start up' stage, with a membership of just 3. I was hoping to be given some insight into exercise and this diaphragmatic breathing that I just can't seem to master or understand. However, I came back with a contact number for a local Specialist Nurse so I may be able to get help/advice that way.

One of the members on here sent me an email message with details of a local contact group which they had researched for me, and I just can't get back to that email to take action on it.

I shouldn't be allowed out unaccompanied .... I really am becoming so confused and 'elderly' that I'm getting fed up with myself, so goodness knows the effect I'm having on other people.

Hope all is well

    Hi Metermaid,

It could be quite interesting to be a founder member of Breathe Easy Group.

Hope you are well and still managing to stay off the cigs. Are you still walking every day? I'm still of the cigs but haven't been doing a lot of walking so must get back into the habit before it gets too cold.

To find the PM or email that someone sent you click on 'My Space' at the top of the web page (just under second green stripe), then click on Message Centre and you should find the message there. Good luck! smile

    Speak soon,

    Ann

    Hi Rita,

Sorry to hear that you didn't have much luck with your group. I did previously send you details of a group with address and contact phone number via private message, but I don't know if that is the 'e mail' you are referring to. If it is then let me know and I can resend it. Obviously I have no idea if a group is any use or not, as I am hundreds of miles away and so can only pass on to you what I find on the internet.

Try not to worry about such things as diaphragmatic breathing - most of us either don't bother with it or just do it as occasional exercise. There are even professionals who argue over whether it is of any particular use or not. I think your biggest need is to find a COPD group or even just one or two good friends to talk to and share with.

Let me know if I can be of help, Love from Vanessa X :ghost: Happy Halloween ..... don't forget to turn your clocks back tonight

Thank you both - I'm hopefully managing to master both the computer and this Site. I'm not walking [i:1a6176d318]every[/i:1a6176d318] day now as I must admit it gets a bit boring and that was the reason I was hoping for some Physio training. Day No 26 off the cigarettes and I hope that I will never start again. Actually it hasn't been as bad this time as on previous 'giving up' trials: perhaps it's when you know that each cigarette will cause more damage, rather than having the view that smoking will never affect me!!

I've spent today doing some bulk cooking so that there will always be a decent meal in the freezer for the days when I just can't be bothered or can't find the energy. I've dreaded altering the clocks all this week. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just clocks, but there are Timers for all sorts of stuff which have to be altered and I could weep at my incompetence. The worst ones relate to the pond in the garden, which involve UV lights, fountains and god knows what else. I'm doing my best to keep everything going but know that I will have to give up eventually.

Happy Halloween! What a silly celebration this is. I'm tempted to sit in the dark and not answer the door, although I will then be left with lots of 10p chocolate bars which of course I will be forced to eat up

    Hi Rita

Sorry to hear you are still not being satisfied with the help you are seeking re the breathe easy meeting, exercise instruction etc.

Try not to stress too much about the clocks or anything, diaphragmatic breathing (taught on PR) when done correctly can be used as an aid to help you de-stress.

As already mentioned do contact your local respiratory nurse who I am sure can book you an appointment to help you.

    Congrats is remaining smoke free.

    Enjoy your chocolate bars.
