Breathing issues...

Good morning,

Recently I have been having problems berating properly. Occasionally when talking I need to stop to gasp for air from my mouth. Also I realized that when I wake up from a night’s sleep I feel as though my left lung is stuck to my heart. (Yes wired feeling) as soon as I get out of my bed my heart pumps so fast it feels as though it’s going to come out of my mouth! I went to a specialist and he did a chest x-ray and everything seems to be fine (Size of heart diaphragm etc) however something is wrong and I want to get to the bottom of this

 Please help!

Keeping calm can be a problem when you are going through these symptoms. It certainly is for me!! Good luck !!

To be honest I have gone through a tough patch recently. Do you think I should try anti anxiaty pills to see if it all goes away?

Depends what you mean by "anxiety tablets" if your talking about Propranolol then you may as well get a shandy from a pub.

You need to go back to your doctor and tell ALL of your symptoms. DONT let them fob you off xx good luck

Have you had a spirometry test?   That would let you know if you still have full lung function or not.   An x-ray wouldn't necessarily tell your doctor anything about your lung capacity.  Are you breathless with exertion?

It could be anxiety.but if I were you I'd be having the spirometry test and then if your lung function is normal you could look at anxiety as a possible cause.

Do you smoke and are you overweight?

No I havent done a spirometry test. I stopped smoking in Jan and I go to the gym 3 times a week. Also what I forgot to mention is that i am always caughing and the doc mentioned that I could have a nasal drip issue. .

The coughing is maddenng and exhausting, isn't it?

Before I got on to the appropriate medication the only thing that used to ease it was an Anticol followed by a drink as cold as I could make it, but eventually that didn't work either.

Coughing is crazy they are like 1 minute apart. Strangely enough in summer it eases.. If I take cold drinks I cough more!

that sounds really exhausting!   Sorry the cold drinks don't work for you.  What does your dr say about the coughing?

he gave me nasal spray as I always have one nostril blocked. He said it might help but he mentioned that the coughing is probably related to nasal drip hense the continous coughing..

If the sray isn't working go back and tell him.  I don't know anything about nasal drip but if the spray isn't working maybe it's something else?

    Hi 1006,

I can't begin to even try to diagnose you...no one on here can but you have got to tell your Dr again...to me it sounds like you are having some kind of panic attacks but there would reasons for that too. Please get a second opinion...more testing and keep us informed....
