Breathing muscle weakness- I'm discouraged

YESTERDAY I had a breathing test by my pulmonary doctor because I have reactive airway disease( from fumes exposure 10 years ago) and moderate restrictive lung disease from scoliotic chest deformity despite surgically reduced spinal curves)
It seems the muscular weakness from steroids and general deconditioning has caused bad test results. I do get winded very easily at times.
Before APRIL I was in a lot of hip pain and had trouble walking. Various injuries from bursitis or overzealous attempts at exercise caused some injuries. In APRIL I started PT employing Pilates which has really helped my walking. I cannot walk outside because of the high mold count so I am increasing my treadmill time. Unlike standard asthma steroids and inhalers are minimally effective but high dose VIT D3 has helped in 2 case reports.
I'M very scared and discouraged about the breathing . My O2 saturation is only 95% by pulse oximeter. I am on 6.25 pred using slow method - 1/4MG at a time. PMR sInce 11/2015

My O2 saturation is rarely more than 95% too. No idea why, probably poor blood flow in my fingertips ...
So sorry to hear you have additional problems - and probably due to pred. It's the devil and the deep blue see isn't it? Does the pred at least help the reactive airways disease?

Eileen,
Unlike regular asthma, steroids do not work for RAD.
My goal now is to use whatever exercise helps my breathing muscles.

I thought they were used in paediatric RAD - do they stop working in adults then?
