Breathing trouble

I am 23 years old, I have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks since childhood but no physical health issues for some background information.
For the last few months When trying to breathe in it feels like I'm only getting half the oxygen I should be getting. I cant quite describe the sensation I feel when I breathe just that its not normal and doesnt feel right and I'm not inhaling as well as I used to. Almost like there's a block of some sort. This lasts all day every day till i go to sleep and I am now confined to my room as I'm too terrified to do anything or go anywhere in case I stop breathing and die.
Here are the things I've tried:
*Anxiety/Depression Medication (2 different kinds with no effect)
*Lung function/Spirometry test (Normal results)
*ENT visit with camera up nose and down throat checking the throat and vocal cords (Everything was normal)
*Blood test (all normal)
*Tried allergy medication (no effect)
*Oxygen levels are always 96-100
*ECG (normal results)
I do have anxiety but the root of this issue is not that. I do have some anxiety attack type things happen but that's only when I'm really struggling to breathe and the panic sets in. My doctor insists its anxiety but I'm not convinced as it feels too real.
I am very careful not to exert myself and walk extra slowly as not to get out of breath because i feel if I get out of breath then my breathing won't resume to 'normal' and whatever this problem is will worsen and I'll end up in hospital.
Any advice, ideas, etc... would be greatly appreciated of if anyone's going through the same thing

Amber I struggle with this on occasion. I had a bout so severe months ago that took me to the ER. All results were normal...ECG...oxygen levels all good, but it felt as if my chest wouldn't expand and I wasn't getting any air. It was terrifying.
Every so often it'll show up and is concerning. I did have a bout in a social situation and was convinced it was something serious, that something was physically wrong. As soon as I left the symptoms disappeared immediately. It's times like this that it's hard not to accept that it's anxiety related.
I do understand that one of the common symptoms of generalized anxiety and depression is shortness of breath symptoms. Again, when I did visit ER naturally they X-Ray lungs and check for heart related issues and of course oxygen levels were 97-100.

but This feeling lasts 24/7 and I feel like its only getting worse ๐ฆ im scared its something thats going to go undiagnosed and im going to die from it. I dont understand how it can make me feel this way. The only time I get complete peace is when im asleep and its not shortness of breath that i have even though thats the medical term. I just feel when I inhale its not passing through my airways properly if that makes sense.
I'm glad you found a way to manage it, its truly horrible

Been feeling very similar. My doctor won't entertain any test. Just listens to my chest, heart and lungs and does blood stats and blood pressure. I am trying not to second guess and focus on the root cause of my anxiety.
All the best!

Hi Amber, YES, this is ANXIETY, it can effect you 24/7....You are going to have further issues if you don't get your anxiety under control...you should ask your Dr to see a counsellor for CBT....you keep telling yourself you are going to die, that you have something terrible wrong with you, that you cannot breathe, that you will get out of breathe if you move too much & die...ALL of this has happened and you're still here, all your tests are fine(if you want the true test of your air intake, buy a cheap 02 sensor online/or download free app for your phone) if you are over 90 %youre getting enough oxygen!!! Your anxiety is so bad, it is totally irrational(it feels totally REAL) but, it is happening subconsciously, too...the more you THINK about it, the more you keep telling yourself its true, you're convincing yourself/body/brain its true. It is really scary and even disabling but, YOU can actually gain control back, with help. People in your position start to do certain types of breathing(like hyperventilating, too many shallow, fast breaths, that make you feel light headed or shallow nose breathing, making you feel like you cannot get enough air)when you're panicked you need to breathe in slowly & deeply IN through your nose and slowly & deeply OUT of your mouth...focus on it and concentrate while telling yourself, everything is fine..You need to calm yourself on a regular basis everyday, breathing properly, focused relaxation, exercise(just stretching at first, maybe yoga....those kinds of things)de-stressing, coping skills....You have stopped physical activity, eventually if you extremely limit your exercise, you will get out of shape physically....then you will start having shortness of breath, because you're out of shape. Your lungs are involuntary muscles, they work without you having to do anything but, they need exercise to to stay in shape....If (pretend) you keep walking and push through the feeling of not being able to breathe, you stop because of fear, what if you didn't stop(because you are still breathing, its your anxiety messing you up, proof on an 02 meter would help)what would happen? Your lungs aren't going to just stop, if by chance you passed out...it doesn't mean your lungs stopped working, it means you were breathing the wrong way and passed out or had a full blown panic/anxiety attack...your body will correct itself, and you will be fine once again....PROOF, when you go to sleep, your lungs still work !!! You cannot give your life to anxiety, you have a way out of this darkness and despair, you can BEAT THIS, all you need to do is ask for help!! I hope you can find some comfort and ease your mind!!! Best Wishes๐โฎ๐๐๐โพ๐พ๐ถ

Thank you very much for your comment. I've tried cbt and it didnt work for me. I just dont understand how it can be anxiety ๐ฆ and i dont feel like its a lung problem more like its something wrong with my other airways as when i breathe in it just doesnt feel like the air is passing through properly. It feels extremely uncomfortable. I feel if i exercise it will exacerbate this and almost like the air wont flow through at all. Thanks again
