Hi ladies

I am breathless all the time

i am two years over menopause

I have had ECG bloods doctor listen to my chest

now waiting for the results if a chest xray

but everything comes back normal so far

I have suffered this before with the hormones now two years no period and its back with a vengeance

I have just gone back on mirtazapine anxiety meds but even scared abiut that

I keep thinking im literally suffocating with no known cause

My doctor listened to my chest after ECG and said all was well but i insisted on an xray

I literally feel like im losing control

Just when everyone tells me it cant still be menopause i am actually starting to believe them

Am i crazy or really ill without a cause x

I'm still in perimenopause, but I'm feeling the same about the breathlessness. It comes on and I can't get deep enough breaths in. Makes me anxious which then. makes the breathing worse, a vicious cycle.

It feels like my lungs won't expand enough to take that deep breath. I try and yawn lots and sometimes it helps but not always.

    It's a weird symptom isn't it.

Just wondering if anyone is feeling hot and cold sensations as well? Especially in the morning. The nausea is not good in the morning. Somewhat like morning sickness during pregnancy, accept you are not. Just an overall feeling of being drained and tired. .Just had tests done, and everything was normal. Just feel sad during this time of a viral outbreak to be going through menopause.

Yes! It is not a pleasant feeling! I had it extremely bad a year and a half ago. I was always taking deep breaths (well, when I could), and everything seemed to make me breathless. I felt i could never get enough air. Hormones and stress definitely play a role. It has started coming back full force since covid. I am trying to get back to my meditating and prayer (I find it peaceful). Please know you are not alone! Sending you strength and peace!

      Hello Laurie

I am going through post menopause and have the issues you mentioned about feeling breathless. As a matter of fact, it's a very scary feeling. I have had bloodwork and tests/xrays, ekg's, and all come back normal. I am wondering if you might be suffering from some sort of stress anxiety or panic attacks. I was told that could be my problem. It seems when you get older/with hormonal changes, the body seems to re-call stress. Even if you are not necessarily stressed at the time. I agree, we all need to spend more time in prayer. God knows all about our bodies because he made us. This is a stressful time for everyone, but my faith in God gets me through. If you are like me, you're just ready for this change of life to be OVER. I have felt mine being worse since going through post menopause.

    hi Michelle

I'm feeling exactly the same at the moment been about 3weeks now just constantly feeling lack of breath

its really scary and I can't settle at night constantly trying to take deep breaths to try and get air into my lungs

it's just a bit of comfort to me that other people are feeling the same as me and I'm not alone in this hell of perimenopause it just seems I get rid of one thing then another takes its place

but this has to be one of the most worrying

hope this all passes for us all soon
