Breathlessness

Has anyone who had the breathlessness figured out a way to make it go away or be better. It randomly comes on. I am not a smoker but it has been here since day one. I can not seem to shake it and it gets my anxiety all worked up which of course makes it worse. When i am doing something it does not seem to be as bad and also i know anxiety can cause it but it does not feel like it is anxiety it just feels more like i have to try to breath sometimes. They have done ct scans and x rays and such of my chest and say its all good but that does bit make it any easier to breath.

    Hi Josh,

Breathlessness is such a scary thing, as someone who had a nasty asthma attack when I was younger I remember how frightening it was to not be able to catch your breath properly. I just hope so much that this settles down, anxiety is such a horrible thing too and the whole mix of this together with the mono effects must be horrible to deal with and could understandably cause breathlessness.

I'm afraid my knowledge on things to help with this (other than asthma inhalers which I was given for asthma) is limited, it certainly might be worth looking into seeing if there are any foods / herbs / vitamins that can be good for helping with opening the airwaves and for clear breathing. Sometimes even gentle exercise, fresh air, things like that may be helpful but definitely get some advice from someone who knows much more than me on it. Hoping others on here can share some things that might help, any thoughts guys?

    Hi,

I came down with mono a year and a half ago. I was lucky to get a test and diagnosed correctly. My symptoms were extreme flu the first month and them terrible fatigue( the word fatigue is not strong enough for the tiredness I feel) breathlessness and extreme thirst. I finally went back back to work after 5 months and the feeling of being out of breath continues. It seems so weird because I was an active person before the mono, but now just wiping down tables for my job makes me feel like I am going to pass out. I do feel like it has improved. For me accupuncture and supplements have helped some. You aren't alone in this and I have been so disappointed that most doctors aren't curious about this weird part of mono. Be gentle with yourself, you will get better gradually.

Yeah it has been 8 months and i still get it and then i get anxiety from it which makes it worse still have a bunch of pretty debilitating symptoms that makes me feel like i am having a heart attack or something they are less frequent but still there i would say i might be 50% of what i used to be and literally only go to work sit at home and garden i have tried many things and nothing seems to help for me at least.
