Breathlss

hi, I have had copd 10+ years, my medical team don't talk in stages but mild, moderate and severe, I am severe. I'm on oxygen 24/7 2L, I've been feeling fine no hospital stays for almost a year. My community nurse visited yesterday and all seemed good although a little more breathless than usual. As the day went on the breathlessness increased and by last night I was extremely breathless just lying in bed, I used my nebuliser which helped a little according to my oxy/ pulse probe my oxygen was 96 , pulse 118. This morning I'm still breathless just sitting in my chair. Has anyone been like this ? Thanks for any advice. Regards Julia

Julia, I think if our breathing deteriorated that quickly you need to be contacting your community nurse or gp, not strangers on an online forum

Hi Julia, are you sure you're not allowing yourself to become anxious making you feel more breathless.  But I agree with Jude and Nanny, a call to your GP or COPD nurse is the sensible thing.  Hope you breathing improves soon.

Hi pippa thanks for your reply, yes I could be getting more anxious. Just to let everyone know I'm feeling much better. When my matron examined me yesterday she could hear very fine crackles at both lower lobes, I have crackles in right lung all the time, probably bronchiectasis . I've only just finished a course of antibiotics and steroids. Usually when I'm breathless my oxygen level drops but yesterday it didn't, my pulse increased to 118. Last night I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance but I got thru it and as I said I'm feeling much better, Thankyou everyone for your good wishes and advice. Warm regards julia x

    Hi julia14760,

I had something similiar lately and my Dr said if it lasts more than 2 days then you should be seen and it's probably an exacerbation that everyone talks about. That's my advice....please let us know!
