So I had surgery on my tibia because I had a pylon fractur. It's a stress fracture vertacaly. Had it back in 2016. Fast foreword till last 2 weeks I got the plate and screws out dew to an inpingement. Well, now I got my stitches out and I can walk on it but I have a massive brues over my 292nd through 468th toes. Sharp pain goes in and out preventing me from sleeping. I can walk and stand just fine, but when it comes to paying town sitting pressure is off the foot it hurts sharply and goes away. A little tingling before going away..

It could just be your nerves coming back around. I’m sure with taking the plate out it affects the nerves. I am 6 months post op and have a plate and 6 screws and I get nerve pain and tingling quite a bit. My big toe is still numb so I know the nerves are working at coming back around. Maybe consider asking for gabapentin. It’s a nerve blocker and might help you sleep. Night time is the worse for some reason. I hope this helps and best of luck to you!

Hi Toko. From what you wrote, it seems to me you're on the road to recovery! It will be nice for you when the pain goes away.

My guess is that your foot hurts because of having the plates and screws removed recently. It must be quite tender. Now, the physicality of your foot is different. Maybe the reconstruction of your nerves is causing you pain.

My physiotherapist told me that pain can possibly mean healing is taking place.

All of this is theoretical on my part.

If I were you, I would see a doctor who can explain what you are experiencing.

For lack of sleep, I am sure your doctor could prescribe a medication to help you catch some zzzzzzzzzs.

Toko, I hope you manage to get some sleep and are pain free soon!
