You should always have it on when your feet touch the ground. You can easily exacerbate your ankle injury setting you back weeks. Even with the boot you need to rest, ice, and elevate, and don't overdo it.

Follow the rules your surgeon gave you or you may have further complications and even take longer to recover. My surgeon said you would be amazed how many people just don't follow doctors orders.
Play it safe even though it's hard to be patient. I've basically been in the boot for 6 min nths with two surgeries ,so if I can do anyone can!!!!!
