    Hi Ann

i am sorry to hear that. i am in my 7th week post ankle ORIF surgery. I went through the same thing in my 3rd week, i had burning, stinging and numbness in my foot. it was very annoying and usually happens when the foot swelling and the blood is circulating slowly. I went to the doctor and he take off my cast and put me in air cast boot which was a big relife. The doctor told me to elevate my foot upper than my heart position and move my toes so that will help in the circulation of the blood and reducing the swelling. What you are feeling is common after ankle surgery, but i think you should contact your doctor and ask them to change it in air boot. I hope this help and i wish you a speed recover.

Hi Ann, I had a similar issue when I was in a hard cast. It is probably due to nerve damage.

My Dr. recommended CBD oil and it was a life saver. It helps to reduce the swelling. I also found running a fan directly into the cast helped a bit too.

I am 10 week post ORIF and walking in sneakers. The top of my foot it still numb due to the nerve damage and will probably take months to repair.

First 3 week are the worst as you are learning to live with a broken ankle. Trust in what the Dr says and if they say non-weight bearing, stick to it. I was fully healed in 7 weeks. My foot never touched the ground.

Good luck to you and hope you can alleviate that burning sensation. It was very annoying to me as well.

hi ann, im nearly 3 weeks post ORIF surgery, broke my ankle in 3 places. I feel for you as im exactly the same, i had a pot put on before i left hospital and was dealing with all the different sensations but managed to get off the pain killers totallly (apart from paracedamol) then on monday i went to have a check up where they took the cast off, took my stitches out xrayed and put a new cast on. ever since ive had an awful extreme burning sensation allover my foot and right up my big toe. Its awful. I find it eases it if i dont elevate it that high or put it too the floor, which is strange.Im also 24 weeks pregnant, so i havent got time on my hands. Ive been on this site for weeks now reading everyones recovery and hoping mine is somewhat straight forward. Anyways if i dont hear back from you, good luck with everything.
