Broke my fibula in February this year no surgery.

Went to physio for 3 weeks once a week then once fortnight for another 3 weeks told physio didn’t feel right but still got discharged told me to go back to gp did that she sent me for X-ray in July X-ray showed not healed phoned ortho who seen me week later sent me for mri which took 11 weeks to get appointment .

Still no further forward gp says no ligament damage but looks like soft tissue damage ?

I walk with limp my ankle throbs like toothache all the time ?

What type of Fibula fracture? Sounds like it might be a stable Weber A (same as mine)? Maybe stable Weber B?

You mentioned that the July X-ray showed that your fracture wasn't healed - was that a non-union or a mal-union? I'm confused about that part because X-rays can only show bone healing (not ligament or other soft tissue). If there was an issue with the bone healing at this point I'm surprised they did nothing for 11 weeks!

Were you NWB or WBAT in your moon boot (I was NWB for 4 weeks and WBAT after that)?

Can you get back in for some more physio? Sounds like you shouldn't have been discharged. There is definitely something wrong if you are still walking with a limp and having pain all the time sad

    Tracy,

If I understand your account correctly, you never saw a doctor after your fracture but had contact with a 'virtual clinic' (never heard of that), and when they discharged you from PT you were sent to your GP (family doctor, I presume). Then you finally got an x-ray in July, which showed fracture had not healed.

I don't see how your GP can tell there is no ligament damage without proper diagnostic scans.

Your limp and pain symptoms sure sound like you've got injured soft tissue (perhaps ligament or tendons, and maybe a lot more). It is unclear to me why they would send you to physical therapy for many weeks with unresolved soft tissue damage, as is apparently the case.

I'm so sorry you apparently did not receive proper care and treatment. It may be time to shop for another doctor-- one who knows what they are doing.

    Good luck.

If you've been told now that it is not healed, then you need to be non weightbearing until it is healed.
