That's horrible.  I'm so sorry you are going through this.  My husband' grandmother had this happen to her while hospitalized for other reasons.  She was old and did not recover from her ailments.  I would hope that you and your doctor are on speed dial and are actively working on your total recovery.  If you are questioning the doctors treatment plan, I would get a 2nd opinion or more until I was happy with my progress.  This year I had my 1st broken bone (5th metatarsal and ankle sprain) and luckly recovered without an problems  Good luck to you.

Hi Joan; to me this is Very unacceptable !!!!  Who treated you for your fractured ankle.....was it a specialised Orthopaedic Surgeon, who specilises in ankles/knees etc?

?How long was your ankle in plaster for, and was surgery needed first (any pins/plates/realignments needed)?? and kept from weight bearing on this ankle for a Long period of time, with the aid of crutches?

?,Did you then have a follow up routine with a Professional Physio, who gave you exercises such as "rolling the ankle on a ball" while under supervision......plus other specialized exercises relevant to your ankle?.........

?Even if you did receive all the appropriated treatment, I still feel, and agree with the other reply, that  you really do need to seek a second opinion ASAP, from a highly reccomended Orthopod....one who specializes in  Sports' Fractures/treatments, for this should not have happened if the correct treatment has been given.

?Am so sorry, as you have spent so much time and pain already, but would hate for you to continue in same.    Good luck, and please let us know how you get on.................Bronwink
