Broken Fibula Moon Boot Non Surgical

Hi, I’m new to this forum and I thank and appreciate any advice I can get... I broke (fractured) my fibula just above the joint and not sure if there is any other damage as I’ve only had X-rays. It was a stable break and did not require surgery. Since the break I have been in an air moon boot. The first 3 weeks I was having X-rays weekly. Then my doctor said I could put 20kg pressure while in boot for a week then full weight after that. During the weight bearing process I did hip damage (oh good lord that hurt) Managed to get hip back in alignment and now felling much better but hip still tender. I have stopped putting weight on leg because of this. I am nervous because next week I see my doctor again (6 week mark) I still have a little swelling around the ankle and foot still feels tender. Will the moon boot be removed? I’m not sure I can walk on it if the boots removed. I’m a (small framed) strong independent woman and would like to get back to walking. Does anyone know what I should expect from this point? I have read (just now) about wearing on good foot a (I think they called it?) like a balanced shoe but it maybe to late now. I was never told about this before. Any information would be greatly appreciated.... thank you

Hi! I broke my fibula but needed surgery. I am 11 weeks post-op. When I was finally put in a walking boot and told to start putting pressure then eventually walk, I couldn't do it very well. However, a friend of mine with a my similar situation at the same time as my situation, was put in an aircast. After seeing how much better she was doing than me, I requested that I get changed to an airboot as well. From the first day they gave it to me, I had made marked improvements. Bottom line, you may want to see if that is an option for you. Good luck!!!
