Broken foot

I broke my foot 9 weeks ago. Broke a bottom bone near the pinkie toe into 3 pieces. Orthopaedic doctor didn't think surgery was necessary. He immediately put me in a boot. Foot was swollen until about 2 weeks ago. Doctor prescribed compression sick to minimize any further swelling. I graduated to walker and a cane. At times I could walk in house without anything. There is still a little pain on the right side bone of my foot but not all the time. Sometimes walk and feel better in normal shoes. Doctor wants to see me in almost 3 weeks. I asked about driving. Got two answers. First he said that I know I could drive if I could slam on the breaks without a problem. When I asked again hrvssid we'll see when my boot comes off. He does want me to walk since he said healing relies on stress. My question is am I jumping the gun or am I helping the healing the more I walk. I went to the store with a friend. Available to push cart but started to hurt after half hour. I'm a personal trainer and can't wait to go to the gym. Doctor prescribed occupational therapy for my broken pinkie finger but not my foot.

    Hi Raymond,

How is your foot going? I broke 5th metatarsal spiral mid-distal shaft 11 weeks ago. Is not too sore any more but xrays still not showing any union or callus formation. Very frustrating! I have been weight bearing since the beginning as I didnt have too much pain!

Been walking and driving for two weeks now. Sometimes I feel little soreness but I put my feet up every evening. There is a little discoloration but have been told it takes a while. 5% swelling so now and then I take Aleve etc. Hoping it will look like the other foot soon.

In your case I would go back to your doctor about xrays. Try calcium and d3 vitamins, Collagen powder and jello. Natural food store has a product called bone up.Check with doctir. Hope all goes well.
