Broken Wrist - Extreme thumb pain 4 weeks post fracture

Hello all...
?My ortho-doc is a 1 on a scale of 1-10, in the communication department.
?I am 4 weeks with a fiberglass cast into a fractured distal radius and ulnar fracture. From day 1, I said it fel like my humb is broken. That was dismissed with, 'Thumb pain is part of a broken wist'. Four weeks later, the thumb is still extremely painful when I try to move it at all. A great guy in the ER snapped pics on my phone of my X-Rays. I'm no radiologist, so I can't tell. But I a wondering if there is a scaphoid fracture they didn't detect. I read that an undiagnosed scaphoid fracture can have long-lasting consequences. Anyone?

I broke my wrist 6 months ago & my thumb & little finger gave me excruciating pain that I also thought they must have undetected a break there.
I was reassured that was not the case & a few months later the pain has eased somewhat but has not gone completely.
Doing exercises can still be painful but it must be done. I am still in a lot of discomfort with my wrist especially the outer part on my pinky finger side.
It feels never ending tbh so I will be asking my consultant if my plate needs to be removed on my next appointment.
Hope you will find relief soon...I can so relate to your pain.

I'm you're in such pain!! I've also experienced a severe lack of communication from my ortho's office and b/t providers (ER, Imaging Dept, Ortho). It's incredibly discouraging, results in a lot of extra work for us, and makes an already challenging and painful situation exponentially more difficult!
?My reply may no longer be relevant since you posted 21 days ago, but I wanted to respond in case it might still be helpful.
?I'm not sure what your circumstances are, but can you seek a second opinion and request an MRI? Trusting your body and listening to what it's telling you is so important!!!
?I was initially diagnosed with a sprained wrist. The xrays showed "nothing abnormal or of concern." They sent me home. A week later, I was still in pain, symptoms unchanged & additional symptoms appearing. They sent my xrays to a specialist who insisted it was a sprain. My symptoms continued to increase and become more severe. I kept calling until I finally received a referral to an ortho who ordered an MRI. The MRI showed a dislocation & 3 torn ligaments. I'm now in a long/full arm cast to the shouder. If you're still experiencing symptoms definitely advocate for yourself until you get the care you need!
